Sprinkle some baking soda on the carpet, leave it overnight and vacuum it up in the morning. The baking soda will definitely help absorb the odor. Place small bowls of vinegar around the room when the carpet chemicals smell the strongest.
Off-gassing doesn't stop when the smell stops either. The 'new smell' may disappear after a week or so but the fumes are still being emitted – they're just much more subtle. Off-gassing can last between six months and five years depending on the household item and the chemicals used to treat it.

Use Baking Soda
Baking soda is a natural compound that is very effective in getting rid of unwanted smells. Sprinkle some on your new carpet, allow it to sit for a day or two, and then vacuum it up. If you still notice unwanted smells, repeat the process a second time.
If your carpet smells like stinky feet, it could be due to trapped moisture in the fibers and underlay. This may be caused by wet carpet which has not dried properly. Trapped moisture might be causing mold and mildew to form, which, if left untreated, may cause a health risk.
A dye designed for fabric can be used to treat a bleach spot on carpet, but it may be difficult to match the color completely. Mix a powder- or liquid-based fabric dye that closely matches the carpet color with hot water using the proportions specified on the dye package.
