During the winter, you will need your
The idea would be for the HRV to run continually until it is reducing or adding to the indoor humidity too much. I would recommend starting at 40% in winter and 50% in summer. This way, the HRV will shut off if indoor humidity levels drop below 40% in winter or rise above 50% in summer.
While every HRV system is slightly different, most are fairly easy to use. We recommend setting your HRV to “minimum” or “vent”, then set it to “20/40”.
Your HRV can enhance your home's air conditioning system during the summer. Again, run it all the time so fresh air can enter your home without the need to open windows and doors.
We would suggest you set your ideal temp at 22 and ventilation level between 4-6.
A consistent baseline score of 70 or higher is associated with health; whereas levels between 50 and 70 are compromised health and diseases; whereas a regular HRV below 50 puts the person at risk for catastrophic illness and even death.
Air exchangers and the changing seasons
The relative humidity is at its highest, and it's often difficult to bring it down. Your air exchanger will come into play, working to lower the levels, which should be between 50 and 60 percent during the summer season.
The HRV Summer Kit is an optional accessory that helps cool your warmer rooms, by taking air from the eaves on the cooler side of your home and delivering it where it's needed via your HRV system's ducts and ceiling outlets.
To ensure that you home is well-ventilated and maintains good air quality, your HRV and ERV should run continuously. Many HRV fans can operate at low, medium, or high speeds depending on the ventilation requirements.
The HRV exhaust fan removes humidity, odours, and carbon dioxide, while the HRV supply fan replaces the exhausted air with fresh outdoor air. Filters in the HRV prevent dust, air pollutants, and other contaminants from reducing the performance of your HRV.
Normal heart rate variability
In healthy adults, average heart rate variability is 42 milliseconds. The range is between19 and 75 milliseconds. Athletes and other people who are very fit may have a much higher heart rate variability.
We recommend that our clients use their HRV systems anytime all the windows and doors in their home are closed, but the system should be shut off when you open them again to conserve energy.
If your HRV rises abnormally high (above a certain standard deviation) within a day or a few days, the app indicates with a yellow or red that you are likely experiencing abnormal amounts of recovery (Parasympathetic NS activity). This is often in response to accumulated amounts of stress.
We recommend setting your HRV to “minimum” or “vent”.
However, the 20/40 setting is also good because it only runs the system for 20 minutes every hour. This way, you'll have fresh air coming into your house at regular intervals. This will vary depending on the options available on your controller.
During the heating season, the HRV captures heat from the outgoing air and uses it to preheat the incoming fresh air. During the cooling season, an HRV can reverse this heat-exchange process, removing some of the heat from the incoming air and transferring it to the outgoing air.
There are different schools of thought on this subject, but as a general rule of thumb, it's best to only turn your HRV system off completely during the summer if you have your windows open.
In general, low heart rate variability is considered a sign of current or future health problems because it shows your body is less resilient and struggles to handle changing situations. It's also more common in people who have higher resting heart rates.
High Temperature: The coolant is too hot when you see a red thermometer submerged in a liquid. If the light remains on, pull over to allow the engine to cool. Driving slowly can also help prevent overheating.
Spring, Summer, Autumn: Lower ventilation levels (1 – 3) Winter: Higher ventilation levels (3 – 6) To activate: Turn off system (press Power button). Hold the Down arrow for 3 seconds or until display is lit. Press Power button to adjust between 1 and 6. To exit, press the FUNC button.
You should therefore adjust the settings of your air exchanger by referring to the brand's conditions of use. If possible, you should adjust the settings to switch to “recirculation” mode during the warm season. This effectively limits the entrance of moisture and lets the air circulate throughout the house.
In winter the HRV will continue to bring a very small amount of cold air into the house even when the roof temperature is lower than the set temperature. This is called Ventilation Mode.
Your ERV/HRV may run continuously on high speed if: The main control is set for high speed. A timer has been pressed for high speed override. The set point for RH (Relative Humidity) is below the actual relative humidity of your home.
The recommended rule of thumb for summertime is to set the temperature to 78 degrees Fahrenheit when you're home and higher when you're away. In general, set it to 82 degrees Fahrenheit when you're asleep and 85 degrees Fahrenheit when you're away.
The 20/40 mode is a repeating cycle. The fan will run at LOW speed for 20 minutes, then turn OFF for 40 minutes. Some units are equipped to recirculate the air in your home during the 40-minute cycle with no ventilation.
