If you have a project that requires gap bonding or filling, surface repairs or laminating, the best glue for porcelain or ceramic repairs will be an epoxy. An epoxy consists of two parts: resin and hardener. When mixed together, they produce a durable, high strength bond.
The best way to restore a broken ceramic object is by using a cold-materials process. With modern adhesives, fillers, paints, and cold glaze, it's possible to perform seamless repairs to damaged ceramic objects.
Material Compatibility: Ensure that the mug is made from a material that Gorilla Super Glue can bond effectively with, such as ceramic or porcelain. It may not work as well on certain plastics.
We are, as repair service studio, often asked which adhesive is the best for pottery or ceramic restoration? Generally, our answer is Resin Epoxies or PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate).
For smaller repairs, super glue will work fine on most ceramics. It dries quickly and is extremely strong. If the broken item is larger, however, super glue might not be the answer. Another type of glue doing quite well as a ceramic adhesive is a good general contact adhesive.
Super glue, or cyanoacrylate, is a great glue for ceramic due to its strong, clear, and waterproof bond. It can be found in a variety of viscosities, so it can be adapted to fit any use.
The initial curing time for tile adhesive is typically between 24 and 48 hours. During this time, avoid walking on the tiles. After the tiles have dried, fill the joints between them with grout. Once the job is done, clean the area and allow the tiles to fully adhere to the surface.

Downsides of using super glue for ceramics repair
This makes lining up the pieces properly very difficult. Superglue has low shear strength. In other words, if you push or twist the pieces, they can come apart. It doesn't fill in spaces.
Viral videos say you can do this by taping the plate back together and leaving the plates submerged in milk for two days! But in reality, it's all a lie! Submerging the broken plate for two days does nothing but make it wet. They trick you by swapping out the broken plate for an unbroken one.

Step 3 Apply directly to surfaces to be bonded or repaired. Step 4 Allow 24 hours for curing. Depending on materials and temperature, maximum bond strength may not be reached for 48 to 72 hours.
Technically, porcelain is a type of ceramic, but porcelain is crafted from a mix of higher-grade clays and fired at more extreme temperatures than ceramic. This makes porcelain harder and denser than ceramic tile, and also more durable and less porous.
