All-Clad and HexClad serve very different cooking styles. All-Clad is best if you want professional-grade stainless steel that lasts a lifetime and excels at searing and deglazing. HexClad is better if you prioritize the low-maintenance convenience of a non-stick surface that can handle metal utensils.
That said, both brands are oven-safe up to at least 500 degrees, with steel pans like those from All-Clad tolerating up to 600 degrees. These pans also weigh less and adapt to temperature changes more quickly than HexClad's offerings. Overall, HexClad provides even cooking, durability and an excellent nonstick surface.
The Materials Behind Gordon Ramsay's Favorite Cookware
HexClad—the only brand of cookware that Gordon Ramsay uses—isn't just fancy marketing. It's tri-ply, Hybrid ceramic nonstick cookware.
Made for every kitchen - and trusted by chefs - All-Clad is where premium materials meet performance-first design.
Quoting directly from the official class action lawsuit site: The suit “alleged HexClad falsely advertised, labeled, and marketed the nonstick coating of certain of its products, including, but not limited to, claims that the products were 'non-toxic,' 'PFAS Free,' 'PFOA Free,' or otherwise free from certain chemicals.
As we've said, Hexclad specifications used to show that its cookware was made with PTFE. This is a synthetic chemical coating as used in Teflon. Sure, Hexclad didn't use PFOA to apply the PTFE (no U.S. cookware brand can, legally), but most of our readers will agree that PTFE itself is not desirable in the kitchen.
Specifically, All-Clad has agreed to pay up to $4 million to put an end to several lawsuits that alleged the company's cookware was not as dishwasher safe as advertised. For more information, including what will happen if the settlement gets the court's OK, head on over to our newswire.

All-Clad Made in China
Multi-layer metal cookware (i.e., has thick sidewalls made from steel bonded to another metal) is always made in the USA, with the exception of now-discontinued Emeril Pro-Clad and its equally-flawed successor. Emeril Pro-Clad was a thinner All-Clad D3 Stainless variant with glass lids.
If you want to avoid Pfas and PFOA entirely, the safest pans are cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel and ceramic (true ceramic, not ceramic coatings).
Writer and cookware expert Allison Robicelli says in her HexClad skillet review: “HexClad cookware might be pricey, but it's worth the money and will pay for itself 10 times over. Not only does the hybrid pan do the work of three other pans, but it's also built to last. It might very well be the last pan you ever buy.”
Gordon Ramsay's diagnosis and treatment
He had been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (BCC). BCC is the most common type of non-meloma skin cancer, typically arising in areas exposed to the sun or UV radiation.
World-renowned chef, TV host, restaurateur, and author Bobby Flay partnered with GreenPan to bring years of expertise and cooking innovation to this cutting-edge collection. Crafted from quick-heating aluminum, these pans let you dial in the right temp so you can master your meals.
Yes. All-Clad is a gold-standard for high-quality cookware. If you're looking for a skillet with sturdy construction, even heating, and durability, that's also easy to care for, All-Clad is well worth the price.

HexClad Cons
I question the pan's durability and purpose. Stainless steel brings quick and even heating, but prevents it from being truly nonstick, while the ceramic coating gives the pan some nonstick abilities (though not entirely, because of the stainless steel webbing), but isn't as durable as stainless steel.
It's been made in the small town of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, the birthplace where it all started back in 1971. They're also one of the few companies remaining that still offers a lifetime warranty, which is increasingly less common. But the main reason All-Clad pots and pans cost more is because they're made better.
What Pans Do Professional Chefs Use?
Try turning down the heat. For low-fat foods like eggs, pancakes, or potatoes, lower heat = better results 🔥 HexClad pans conduct heat very well, so unlike traditional cookware, you don't need high heat to get a great sear or flip. In fact, high heat can sometimes cause sticking with delicate foods.
