The company is known for creating the non-stick cookware category and for offering frying equipment with a low requirement of fat or oils. In the United States, Tefal is marketed as T-fal. This is to comply with DuPont's objection that the name "Tefal" was too close to DuPont's trademark "Teflon".
As you're probably well aware, almost any cooking pan you buy now features some form of non-stick technology. All thanks to T-fal! The full name brand is Tefal, but it is marketed to the US and Canada as T-fal. A brand that originated in France could be manufactured anywhere in the world!
T-fal purchased in the US is always made in China. Does the manufacture place make a difference in the quality? I do feel the red dot thermo works better with French one. They are about the same price, and if I had a choice in the US purchasing Tefal from French with same price, I won't go for T-fal.
TEFAL pans are not made of TEFLON™
Historically Tefal has used TEFLON™ brand coatings for its non-stick pans. However, when Groupe SEB purchased TEFAL in 1968, it wanted to internalize the manufacturing of its own non-stick coatings to better control all stages of production.

For our recommendations, we stick to stainless steel, cast iron, and enamel or ceramic coatings. If you're making the switch from traditional nonstick cookware, you should look into ceramic or enameled cookware. These coatings tend to hold up for years, especially if you cook over medium to low heat.
In keeping with its commitment to health and the environment, Tefal has also created a “Health and Environment” label guaranteeing that its cookware products do not contain any PFOA and that they are harmless to consumers and the environment.

I contacted T-Fal for the answer. It took them 3 days to get back to me, but the response was: "Most of our current products are manufactured in China. However, some product may still be on the market that was manufactured in France. The box will clearly state the country.
Tefal was the first to use PTFE as the main component of its non-stick coatings. Public Health Authorities in Europe and in the United States have demonstrated that PTFE is an inert substance with no effect on health, even in the case of ingestion.
A surface scratch on Teflon coating may shed more than 9,000 micro- and nanoparticles, potentially contaminating food with harmful chemicals, according to a study by researchers from the Global Centre for Environmental Remediation.
Conventional nonstick cookware is made with a PFAS called PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon. In the past, PTFE was produced with the help of another PFAS called PFOA. But studies clearly linked PFOA to health risks, so this specific chemical was phased out in 2014.

Some cooks rely on ceramic cookware because of its non-stick properties, but for the seasoned home cook, ceramic lacks the durability and versatility of stainless steel cookware.
