Ensure the freezer is not jammed-packed as it can limit air circulation, keeping it 70% to 85% full is recommended. Dirty coils can impair refrigerant cooling, affecting freezer performance, clean them to enhance cooling efficiency.
Be sure to check the electrical outlet, thermostat and airflow around vents. Cooling problems can also be caused by dust on condenser coils, faulty gaskets, clearance space around the refrigerator, a broken or stuck condenser fan or a faulty circuit board.
There should be a temperature control inside the refrigerator. (It is probably a turn dial type) This control will adjust the temperature in both the cooler and the freezer. Turn it clockwise to set the temperature colder.
Locate your freezer air vents and make sure nothing is blocking the airflow. If your freezer is overcrowded, food items may restrict proper airflow by blocking the evaporator fan, which helps maintain the right temperature. Consult your owner's manual if you're unsure of the vent's location.
Reset your refrigerator: First, unplug it (or turn off the power at the circuit breaker), and then wait about five minutes for the electrical charge to clear out of it. Then, power it back on again.

Making Sure Your Freezer Is Set to the Correct Temperature
Look for the dial to set your freezer temp and adjust it if needed to the coldest setting. This is usually the highest number if the dial is number-based, but always check the appliance manual to be sure.
The freezing point of water is simply 0 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit. While it's rare for temperatures to be that low in most places, you can raise your water's freezing point by adding sugar, salt or alcohol.
The temperature selection on a Chest Freezer is made by setting the dial from ONE to SEVEN, with SEVEN being the coldest. The normal safe freezing level is obtained by setting the control on FOUR. Turning the temperature control all the way to the left to the OFF position will turn the power off to the compressor.
Keep the freezer well stocked.
When the freezer has little or no food inside, it has to work harder to maintain the consistently low temperature needed to create ice. Strive to keep the freezer at least half-filled, stocking it with water bottles as necessary to add more bulk.
Turn off the refrigerator and freezer from the control panel. After unplugging the refrigerator, turn off the fridge and freezer using the control panel inside the fridge. To do so, set the controls to “zero" or switch them off entirely. Once you're done, you can plug your refrigerator back into the wall socket.
How long can you leave a freezer unplugged? A freezer that remains unused for more than a year may develop some issues. To counteract this, consider running the freezer periodically, even if it's empty. This practice helps maintain an optimal internal temperature and prevents the compressor from becoming stagnant.
The parts of your refrigerator and freezer work together to keep the appliance working as it should, but if one or more of those parts becomes damaged, you may notice performance issues. A broken start relay, evaporator fan motor, thermostat, condenser fan motor or compressor can lead to a freezer that won't freeze.
Make sure that both the freezer and refrigerator are 1/2 to 3/4 full. The refrigerator will not cool properly when empty. Make sure that the condenser coils are not covered with dust. You can clean the coils easily with a rag or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.
If the environment is too cold, the freezer may not get sufficient run time to maintain its temperature. If the temperature is too warm, the appliance will have a hard time getting the interior down to the desired temperature. Dirty condenser coils or a broken fan motor can also cause insufficient freezing.
In very cold temperatures the compressor lubricating oil becomes too viscous and the compressor can't start because of excess friction. This causes the compressor overcurrent protector to trip. If the freezer is left ON in a cold place, it will keep trying to start over and over again.
Locate your air damper or freezer control, typically found at the top or side of the fridge. Remove the damper cover and check to see if anything is blocking the air damper. Check the damper flap for any signs of wear or damage, and make sure the flap can move easily.
