If your Outdoor Camera is not responding, it's likely due to either a low or dead battery or the camera is unable to connect to Wi-Fi. Please note that SimpliSafe® systems and cameras require 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Make sure to check that all connections, cables, and power is intact and tightly connected. If your security cameras are wireless, check the internet and make sure that it is connected successfully to the WiFi. You can also check if the router is properly working.
Check camera connections: Ensure that the camera's cables are properly connected. Verify that the camera is securely connected to its power source and that the video cable is securely connected to both the camera and the corresponding input on your display device (such as a DVR or monitor).
Inspect the Lens: Check if the lens is extending or retracting properly. If the lens is stuck or not moving, it might cause the camera to display a black screen.
If restarting doesn't work, then clean your camera lens to make sure it isn't dirty or smudged. Also, double-check that the camera app has the right permissions. To do this, head to your phone's settings, find the camera app, and ensure it's allowed to access what it needs.
Restart your router and/or mesh accent points and Wi-Fi extenders. Try bringing your Outdoor Camera and Base Station closer together, as too far a distance between them can weaken the Outdoor Camera's connection to your system and cause this error.
In general, the issue of “video loss” in CCTV security cameras or DVR/NVR, in many cases, comes down to several factors: insufficient power supply, unstable network, wiring problems, hardware (cameras, NVR/DVR or monitor) failures, inefficient camera software and IP address conflicts.
We typically see this happen for one of two reasons: The battery within your Entry Sensor needs to be replaced. The Entry Sensor is too far away from the Base Station and is unable to communicate from its current location effectively.
Simply unplug the power cord to your Base Station and, while unplugged, remove a battery (you'll need a screwdriver to get to the battery compartment). Wait a few seconds, and then put the battery back in and plug in the power cord - the Base Station will then come back on.
SimpliSafe warrants any replacement products for a one (1) year limited warranty period from the date the replacement parts are delivered to your shipping address.
Reboot Your Security Camera and the Wi-Fi Router
Simply rebooting your security camera can troubleshoot many temporary hiccups. Now, power off your camera, and then power it back on a few minutes later. If restarting the camera doesn't help out, you may consider resetting it to the factory settings.
A professional security camera that's been installed properly should last for 7+ years. After that point, you should consider replacing your cameras – not because they're failing – but to take advantage of the latest technology. However, a cheap security camera may only last two or three years before failing.
Locate the pairing button on the top of your SimpliCam®. Press and hold this button for 20 seconds. When you release the button, the SimpliCam® will begin to reboot.
If your Entry Sensor is showing as offline on the SimpliSafe® Mobile App, this is an indicator that the battery within the device needs to be replaced. The Entry Sensor takes a single (1) CR-2032 Lithium 3V battery and has a life expectancy of up to 5 years depending on placement and usage.
Hold the WPS button on the back of the camera for several seconds. The camera will flash blue and then white. Once it flashes white, release the WPS button. Use a computer or smart device to connect to the ALARM (##:##:##) Wi-Fi network or ADC-V723(XX:XX:XX).
Check If There Are IP Address Conflicts
Each IP security camera needs to have a unique IP address, so it can send and receive data via the Internet or a computer network. If there is another device using the same IP address with the camera, there will be a conflict and it will cause your security camera not working.
Check Batteries: After ensuring the camera is dry, insert fresh batteries and see if it powers on. Make sure the batteries are correctly inserted. Reset: Some cameras have a reset button or option in the menu settings. You might want to try performing a factory reset to see if that resolves the issue.
