Whether you brush, roll, dip, or pour, we always recommend applying Flex Seal Liquid in even coats and allowing 24 hours between coats. If you press it and it's soft, it's not dry yet. Allow 48 hours to completely dry.
A: Depending on the thickness of the layer the product needs 24 – 48 hours to fully cure. Temperature and humidity levels will also impact the curing process. Humid environments will cure the product faster than dry environments. If the treated area is still wet or soft, it will need more time to cure.
If the Flex Seal is still wet, it can be removed with a dry cloth or paper towel. If the Flex Seal is cured/dry, it can be removed with acetone, denatured alcohol, or mineral spirits. When using solvents to remove Flex Seal, make sure to read the instructions and follow all safety precautions.
We do not recommend using Flex Seal on foam. Some foams may react poorly with Flex Seal, and may warp or dissolve. We also do not recommend using it in situations where it is subjected to high heat or pressure (such as engine radiators) or gas tanks. We do not recommend the use of Flex Seal spray on vinyl.

WD40 can be used to aid in the removal of Flex Tape. But the most effective way to remove Flex Tape from surfaces is Flex Adhesive Remover. It's designed for the job.
Rubbing alcohol has many uses, but removing Flex Seal is NOT one of them. If you need to remove Flex Seal from a surface, you have a few options depending on the type of surface. For metal: Use a damp rag and acetone. For wood, fabric, or carpets: Use mineral spirits.
Fabric/Wood
Pour mineral spirits directly over the Flex Seal. Test mineral spirits in an inconspicuous area first just to confirm that it won't stain or damage the material. Many people have had success using Goo Gone and WD-40 on clothing or wood, but test it first to make sure it won't ruin the material.
Flex Tape is a temporary, emergency repair and is not meant to be a permanent fix.
Humidity and temperature:
The humidity and ambient temperature of the room play a significant role in determining how quickly the sealant dries. Higher humidity levels and warmer temperatures can accelerate the drying process, while lower humidity and cooler temperatures can slow it down.
Flex Seal Spray can be top coated with most commercially available paints and urethanes. Flex Glue not only works as a great adhesive but can also be used as a sealer around windows and doors. Flex Glue can be painted over with most commercially available paints and urethanes.
A: Flex Seal Liquid can be poured to any thickness desired.
To increase the life of your Flex Paste, store it in an air-conditioned, humidity-controlled environment.
Flex Tape can only be top coated with Flex Seal Spray. Flex Seal Spray can then be painted over with almost all commercially available paints and urethanes. Flex Seal Liquid cannot be top coated with anything other than Flex Seal Liquid, however, you can add as many coats as you like.
As soon as you see the splatter of Flex Seal on your car, put just a little toluene* on it and then rub profusely with a rag. Toluene is essentially a paint thinner. It will take care of any heavy duty projects like cars. Be careful, however, as toluene could result in removal of your car's paint.
Flex Seal is a liquid rubber sealant coating that's perfect for almost any DIY project inside or outside your house. Flex Seal can be used on almost every surface: wood, metal, tile, concrete, masonry, fabric, glass, plastic, aluminum, porcelain, drywall, rubber, cement, and vinyl.
Flex Seal sprays out as a thick liquid and dries to a watertight, flexible rubberized coating. For best results, spray Flex Seal about 8-10 inches from the surface, using an even, sweeping motion. If you need to smooth out Flex Seal, you can do so while it is still wet or uncured by using a disposable paintbrush.
Depending on the environment, coats added, and maintenance, many people have found Flex Seal will last for years without cracking, peeling, or losing any of its strength or sealing properties.
However we have Flex Seal Liquid that comes in Gallons each gallon covers approximately 150 square feet and depending on how thick you roll or pour it you will need 3-5 gallons on your Shop roof.
This product is most effective for small cracks and holes, particularly in areas that are not under constant pressure or load. For minor leaks, such as those around vent pipes or small cracks in flat or sloped roofing materials, FLEX SEAL might be a suitable solution.
