Blue Mahoe is one of very few woods with an overall gray heartwood appearance (in its fresh and unweathered state), and perhaps the only commercially available wood that can exhibit a bluish hue.
Sapwood is grayish yellow and not clearly distinguished from heartwood. Indian Silver Greywood usually refers specifically to darker brown, figured wood. Paler and plainer wood is sometimes called White Chuglam. Grain/Texture: Grain is usually straight with a medium to coarse texture.
Oak (hardwood)
It is available in two types; red oak and white oak. The white variety is, in fact, more of a greyish-brown shade, while red oak is similar but with a reddish tinge.

Water + UV = grey wood
It is the culmination of a cycle caused by water (rain or sea water on a boat) and UV (sun exposure). Whether it's a teak deck or even a mahogany handrail, no matter what type of wood it is, if left outside unprotected it will eventually turn gray.

Birch has a white sapwood and light reddish brown heartwood. The wood is generally straight-grained with a fine, uniform texture, and is generally characterized by a plain, often curly or wavy pattern.
A lot of timbers once dried out and silvered off will split and splinter more easily. In fact, some will go a dark colour, not achieving the silvered look at all. The best timbers to use for the silver deck are Rosewood, Spotted Gum, Thermory (Ash), Teak (Vitex), Kebony and Accoya.
Walnut Color Heartwood
Other types of walnut heartwood include pale brown and dark chocolate brown with even darker brown streaks in it, with a reddish or grey tone. What is this? Walnut sapwood, which is the living, outer part of a walnut trunk or branches, ranges from bright white to a creamy, yellowish, grey.
Minwax Silvered Gray is commonly used when finishing oak floors. It's a very light stain color, but does add a slight silverish hue to the wood.
It is not a sign of rot and is purely a natural change in colour. The change is a reaction between the UV rays of the sun reacting with a naturally present acid in the oak called 'Tannin Acid'. This reaction causes the oak to turn silver grey.
Siberian Larch
It usually starts its life as a pale yellow/golden brown but eventually weathers to a strong silver or grey colour if left untreated and unstained.
Exposure to UV breaks down the lignin into simple sugars. These sugars act as a food source for moulds, which can be dark and blotchy in appearance. But in situations where they are controlled, such as in dry or coastal climates, they don't develop fully so turn the timber a silver-grey.
While mahogany has great insect resistance, it does not do well when left in direct sunlight. Extended exposure to direct sunlight will lead to your wood's color fading and turning to a soft silvery gray. Restoration is possible, however, and can be accomplished by sanding and staining to bring back the original color.
Grey things, or gray things, include metals, rocks, animals, natural materials and weather conditions. These include relatively rare things such as silver roses or platinum and ubiquitous elements of nature such as storm clouds and slate rock.
The twigs are stout and a light reddish-brown, covered with grayish down. The leaves are alternate, leathery, long ovate, entire or with a few coarse teeth. They are grayish-green above and felted beneath and may fall in times of winter drought.
Conservation: Gray birch is a pioneer species that can tolerate multiple soil conditions. It is a good hardwood species for use in the revegetation of mine spoils and other disturbed areas.
