Start laying tile from your center line. Begin by only applying enough thinset to lay a few tiles at first. This will help you gauge how much you can lay before the thinset begins to set or develop a skin on it.
It's important to determine where to lay the first tile, as opposed to starting on one end or the other. A good rule is to pick a focal point in the room -- such as a stove -- and then tile out and up from there!
To get a perfectly square corner, you want to aim for a measurement ratio of 3:4:5. In other words, you want a three-foot length on your straight line, a four-foot length on your perpendicular line, and a five-foot length across. If all three measurements are correct, you'll have a perfectly square corner.
The reason for normally starting in the middle of the floor is that walls are often (always...) NOT straight or square, and thus a better job results from starting in the center and trimming ALL the walls, rather than starting along one or two walls.
However, when it comes to wall tiles, it is better to start from the top side. Completing each row would be more helpful as otherwise, you would have to revisit certain spots again. Therefore going along the row from the top side is the right way for laying wall tiles.
If you've selected a tile combination that has multiple sizes, the starting point should be the leftmost corner of the room. When tiling a backsplash, always start from the center of the wall. This gives your backsplash a more aesthetic look, and it keeps all the tiles even and symmetrical.
Begin installing tiles in the center of the wall, one grid at a time. Finish each grid before moving to the next. Start with the first tile in the corner of the grid and work outward. Set tiles one at a time using a slight twisting motion.
This can work well in square or rectangular rooms, but if the room has an uneven shape or the flooring is laid diagonally, it's not practical to start against a wall. In these cases, the best method is to snap a line down the center of the room and use that as a reference point for laying the first course.

This language directs the installer to provide a layout where the tile on the left is the same size of the cut on the right. Similarly, the cuts at the bottom of the installation should be the same size as the cuts at the top. This sounds simple and it should be.
The golden rule is, try as much as possible to avoid small pieces of tile, or, try to keep them hidden. The same basic idea applies to the vertical lines of your job. Try to minimise any small cuts. It is best to start with a centre line and mark along your wall where each vertical joint will occur.

Find the center of the wall or floor and mark it with a pencil line or a chalk line. There are two methods to begin the layout: on tile center (shown) or on grout center. Both are valid ways to begin the layout.
It is best to apply the primer to the drywall before you put any tiles down. This will minimize the problems you may have with the tiles in the future. This is true for backsplashes, decorative tiles, and so on. Professional tiling services always prime the drywall before putting any tiles up.
An inside corner is a place where two walls meet.
When you tile your floor, you should start from the center of the room and move outward.
Blanks: The two blank tiles may be used as any letters. When playing a blank, you must state which letter it represents. It remains that letter for the rest of the game.
It's always advisable to start tiling your grid in the centre of the wall, as it's easier to make sure your pattern is symmetrical. It also means any half-tiles you may need can go at the end of each row and will be of matching size.
However, in a tile that is within the standard of allowable warpage, the high point of a tile (where warpage most times is pronounced) is centered on the low point of warpage (the two end joints) of two tiles. The result of 50% offset, as seen in image # 2, is both unsightly and can be a significant safety hazard.
We recommend starting in the left corner of the longest wall in the room and to install the planks in the same direction as the main light source (e.g. the main window). Planks are always installed from left to right.
It's best to start from the middle of the wall and work outwards. When marking the wall with your tape measure and pencil, make sure you use your spirit level to ensure all of the markings are level. At the end of this, you should have the position of all your tiles marked out on your bathroom wall.
Leave an expansion gap between the tiles and the wall as recommended by the tile manufacturer. This will allow the floor and grout to expand without causing cracks. It will also account for the space needed for the grout line.
