This usually occurs within 30 minutes of eating the soap. If it has been an hour and he is still normal he should not have any issues. If you can safely rinse his paw you can wash out any residual soap to avoid any irritation to the skin.
You can feed him his regular diet to help get some food in his GI tract to help absorb any of the detergent he ingested. If he does start vomiting, having diarrhea, decreased appetite or is showing any other signs (unsteadiness, wobbliness, seizures, lethargy), he should be evaluated as soon as possible.
Pets should be monitored closely for the onset of respiratory signs for the first 12 to 24 hours. If respiratory signs are seen, pets should be evaluated. Pets with suspected aspiration pneumonitis will probably require hospitalization.
