The Master Code is six digits and will look like this: 6DMC. The Schlage button will light up as you do the sequences: It will flash orange once it is in program mode, green when it accepts sequences and codes, and red when something is entered incorrectly.
Press and hold the Schlage button until it turns green and beeps. This might take up to 10 seconds. Once the lock beeps, the factory default 6-digit Programming Code and 4-digit User Codes will be active. Test the reset lock by entering one of the default 4-digit User Codes.
The default programming code is printed on a label on the programming guide that came with your lock. If you do not have access to the guide, remove the lock from the door and look on the back of the lock for a label containing the default code.
Offline locks with keypads have a default PIN of 13579 and “#”, which can be used for installation, testing and construction access. To test, enter the default PIN (13579 and “#”). The Schlage button will blink and the lock will unlock.
The lock comes preset with two unique default User Codes. They may be found on the stickers, one on the back of the keypad assembly and one on the front of this User Guide. Used to unlock the lock. These four digits must be different from the first four digits of the Programming Code.

USER CODES
They may be found on the stickers, one on the back of the keypad assembly and one on the front of this User Guide. Used to unlock the lock. These four numbers must be different from the first four numbers of the Programming Code. Up to 19 possible User Codes can be stored in the lock at one time.
If you have a physical key that came with the lock, simply insert it into the keyhole and turn. This should release the latch and allow you to open the door. Another way to open a Schlage lock with a dead battery is by using a paperclip or similar object.
Temporarily Disable Auto-Lock Auto-Lock must already be enabled. While the deadbolt is locked, press the Outside Schlage Button and then enter a 4-8 digit access code to unlock the deadbolt. Within 5 seconds, manually lock and unlock the deadbolt using the thumbturn.
The Schlage Connect deadbolt will continue to work even if it's not connected to the internet if, for example, you choose not to use remote access or if your internet is down. In these instances, you can lock and unlock the door and manage access codes at the touchscreen.
As you can see in the picture below, Schlage uses 4 security pins (called “Spool pins), while Kwikset uses only 2. Having 2 more security pins in a cylinder can make it significantly harder to pick, which can definitely be felt when trying to pick a Schlage lock.
Most exterior locks purchased in-store come with a unique key. That means if you purchase multiple exterior locks at once, they will each have a different key required for access.
User Codes • A User Code can be any combination of 4 - 8 digits entered into the keypad to unlock the lock. The first 4-6 digits must be different from the first 4-6 digits of the Programming Code. Two User Codes are programmed into the lock by default.
Keys are typically printed with an alphanumeric code called a key identification number, a key code or a key number that allows locksmiths and companies to replicate keys without the need to install a whole new lock system.
