A black fungus or mold is thought to be the cause of the black slime. These types of fungi are common inhabitants of our environment and can be found in many places, including human and animal feces, dust, soil, and in surface water.
That black substance that keeps seeping into your toilet is usually bacteria that's clinging to waste in your drain lines. This bacteria tends to grow and spread over time, particularly because the matter that goes down these drains is organic in nature, providing a food source for the bacteria to live on.
Prepare a vinegar and borax or baking soda paste and apply it all over the stains. Wait for about 30 minutes and scrub off the stains using a toilet brush.
Turn off the water, flush the toilet and clean out the tank with a bleach/water mix. With the water supply still off, then fill the tank with warm water from the tub, and pour in an enzyme-based drain cleaner like DrainCare. It will eat out all of the algae overnight, but won't harm the toilet or any seals.

The color is coming from a black bacteria, mold or sewage. The only way to fix this is to pull the toilet off the floor, remove the toilet's wax ring and replace it with a new wax ring gasket. I would also suggest making sure the drain line is cleared under the toilet – as long as you have it off the floor.
Chlorine bleach used to disinfect the toilet will help eliminate the occurrence of the pink residue. An easy way to do this is to periodically stir three or five tablespoons of fresh bleach to the toilet tank, flush the toilet to allow the bowl to be disinfected, then add another dose of bleach to the tank.
The combination of baking soda and vinegar proves effective on just about any slime. The chemical reaction of the baking soda and vinegar, which has antibacterial properties, can break up the slime. If you pour in boiling water after you dump in the vinegar and baking soda combo, it will wash away any leftover slime.
Although this nuisance means more scrubbing the toilet bowl (more on the best pro cleaning tricks below), there's a chance it's also a clue you should get your blood sugar checked. As strange as it sounds, frequently seeing mold in your toilet could be one of the first signs of diabetes.
To remove limescale from the bottom of your toilet you will want to pour vinegar into your toilet bowl and leave that on there for three to four hours. After the vinegar sits, you can scrub those stains with either a toilet brush or a wet pumice stone and flush the toilet.
Method #1: Vinegar
To get rid of toilet mold with vinegar, the first thing you will need to do is pour 1 cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and another cup of vinegar in the tank with the water. This then assures that both your bowl AND tank will be cleaned.
Brown stains under the toilet rim are often caused by a combination of scale and urinary stone. There can also be a build-up of deposits deeper inside the toilet, where toilet water remains. Lime scale is the most common type of scale on plumbing fixtures.
For mineral deposits and bacteria-induced stains, a combination of vinegar and baking soda can be highly effective. Start by pouring a cup of vinegar into the toilet bowl and sprinkling baking soda over it. Let the mixture fizz for 10 to 15 minutes before scrubbing with a toilet brush.
The black sludge in your sink is not something that appears overnight. Over time, the plumbing pipes get dirty and accumulate debris, slowly blocking the water flow. This buildup of slime in the drain is a notorious breeding ground for bacteria. As it grows, the biological matter creates black sludge in the drain.
Get rid of toilet rings with magic erasers
Cut off a quarter of a magic eraser and drop it into the toilet water. Let the piece sit in your toilet overnight to work its… well, magic! Do not flush the magic eraser down the toilet ! Remove it in the morning, then flush to rinse away any residue.
Add a cup of white distilled vinegar to the tank once a month. Leave it to sit overnight and then flush it in the morning. Check for sediment buildup and staining every month or so. This may be especially important if you have hard water or if you have a toilet that doesn't get used very much.
Or perhaps you are seeing some black stains in your toilet bowl or dishwasher? These unsightly stains may be a result of high levels of manganese in your water. Manganese is a natural element that is commonly found in water, soil, and some foods and, at appropriate levels, plays a role in keeping us healthy.
There can be several causes, such as the bacteria growth becoming large enough to grow back out of your sink or shower drain. Other times, black sludge in your drain can be a sign of a more serious problem, including: Clogged Drain: When your drain is clogged, the flow of water and waste slows down.
You can safely use a conventional drain cleaner such as Drano Max Build Up Remover, Roebic Crystal Drain Opener, Liquid Plumr Clog Remover, and Zep Clog Attack. These are all recommended for small drains and are safe for drains and minor clogs.
To control black mold in toilets, clean the bowl thoroughly and spray chlorine bleach into the bowl and under the bowl rim. Also add ¼ cup of bleach to the toilet tank. Let the bleach stand for 15 to 20 minutes.
