Undermount sinks can be mounted in two different ways: reveal (showing some of the sink rim) or overhang (shows no sink rim), also referred to as no reveal. It's the remodeler's choice for quartz, solid surface, or natural stone countertop materials because of the clean, uninterrupted feel.
OVERHANG - The countertop extends over the edge of the sink on all sides by approximately 1/8" - 1/4". Use caution with this installation to be sure that accessories such as colanders or cutting boards will fit properly. REVEAL - The countertop edge sits approximately 1/8" - 1/4" back from the edgeof the sink rim.
The most common countertop overhang is 1.5″. We wanted our sink to go about 1/2″ past the countertop, so we positioned our sink so that it would go 2″ past the cabinet face frame/front of the cabinet.
A sink reveal is exactly what it sounds like: how much of the sink is “revealed” under the countertop. To clarify, this term only applies to undermount sinks, which are installed under the counter.
A flush mount requires highly precise measurements and may need to be sanded and adjusted to find the perfect fit. A positive reveal is when the countertop is cut to expose a portion of the sink's rim.
A flush mount ceiling light is typically a dome-shaped ceiling light fixture that's mounted so that it's embedded within and flush to the ceiling. A semi-flush mount light is more decorative, and the base of the light extends just below the ceiling.

Positive Sink Reveal
Some customers like this feature because they can use this to their advantage by resting a cutting board or a colander on the rim. The only drawback is that if the reveal is not cleaned regularly food, grim, and debris can build-up overtime.

That distance, the “overhang” of the counter, is the dimension you will want to specify as a design consideration. Our customers often ask us for a recommended dimension for the counter overhang. The short answer is 1”-2”, based on your design preference.
For the recommended under-mount installation, the sink needs to sit slightly under the countertop. Verify the measurement from the top of the cabinet to the bottom of the sink opening is greater than the height of the opening.
Both types of sinks are huge, large, and quite deep. However, the apron sink's front area is exposed and visible- which is why they are called apron sinks. These are versatile and modern houses prefer apron sinks. But on the other side, farmhouse sinks look adjacent as well as covered by the kitchen cabinets.
Kohler makes farmhouse sinks with smaller aprons to keep the same aesthetic in a more manageable size for some cabinets. In most new homes the kitchen sink is approximately 30 inches in length, which is a standard size for a farmhouse sink. The other standard sizes are 24, 33, and 36 inches.

Keep in mind that this is 1 ½ inches over the front edge of the base cabinet. While some countertops may have different overhang measurements, this is the number that is seen as standard for homes. While 1 ½ inches is the most common, it's far from mandatory.

After all, with no barrier between the countertop and the sink itself, any mess or food crumbs can simply be wiped directly into the sink with little to no effort required.

Semi-flush mount fixtures provide more illumination than flush mount fixtures. A semi-flush mount fixture is suspended, leaving a small gap between the ceiling and fixture. This gap allows for an uplit effect, while providing a direct downward light.
When choosing a flush mount for a specific room, the interior décor of the space as well as your individual design preferences should be taken into consideration. Determining the best fixture would also involve a few other factors, such as the flush mount's design, size, material, price, and brightness.
