For daily cleaning, use mild soap and water, or a non-abrasive, non-ammonia formula. Quartz is a great solution for clean bathroom countertops because of its perfect blend of good looks and function.
Sanitize Countertops
If you are being extra vigilant about germs, consider using a disinfecting wipe or a sanitizing spray. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant. You can use a vinegar-filled spray bottle to spray your counter then dry with a clean cloth. Repeat as necessary to keep your counters free from germs.
It's super simple. After cleaning and disinfecting your bathroom vanity like normal, spray a cleaning cloth or paper towel with your favorite glass cleaner. (My favorite is Murchison-Hume's Premium Glass Polish.) Next, wipe down your countertop and faucet with the glass cleaner.
Dish soap: When you're doing regular cleaning tasks like wiping down a kitchen counter, it's best to use gentler soap to avoid degrading the surface (or its sealant) that you're trying to clean. Dish soap is a perfect candidate for this kind of task, and, conveniently, you likely already have some in your kitchen.
To make the countertop shine, spray them with a vinegar solution. Mix 2 cups water with 1 tablespoon vinegar in a spray bottle (Image 1 below). Spray the countertop down, and allow the solution to sit for 2 minutes (Image 2 below). Finally, wipe the counter clean.
But when you combine the two, you get an effective, sprayable miracle cleaner that clings to surfaces. Just spray it on, let it sit for a while, then scrub lightly and rinse, and you'll be amazed at the results every time!
With the daily grind, it can be easy to overlook some of the hard surfaces in your home that may need a good clean. With Dawn® Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray cleaning your appliances, countertops, backsplashes, and more can be quick and easy!
The harsh truth is that Clorox wipes are not an effective way for cleaning quartz countertops. While using them gives the appearance of cleanliness, it actually causes unintentional damage to the countertop after prolonged use.
Windex is great on countertops, too, including quartz, granite, marble, laminate and tile. Just make sure that if you're cleaning natural stone counters that have a sealant, such as granite, marble or quartzite, you're using a Windex version that is free of ammonia and vinegar.
Use a multi-surface cleaner such as Windex® Multi-Surface Disinfectant Cleaner to clean and shine countertops made of sealed granite, sealed marble, Corian®, Formica® and more. For a gentle clean that also works on a variety of surfaces, try Windex® Vinegar Glass Cleaner.
To prevent stains, wipe up spills as soon as you notice them, and use Simple Green Granite & Stone Cleaner to give your counters the look and cleanliness your bathroom deserves. It's recommended that you clean your countertops daily and disinfect them twice a week.
Stash dryer sheets under the sink
Dryer sheets are great for quickly and easily grabbing hair and dust bunnies from around your bathroom sink. Instead of needing to breakout a vacuum cleaner or major cleaners, daily dusting with dryer sheets is one way to keep your bathroom sink clean longer.
Then run a wipe over the vanity and the sink to pick up rogue hairs, powder, and toothpaste. (Clorox brand is safe for most hard surfaces, including marble.)
Dishwashing liquid, warm water and a microfiber cloth will do the trick nicely. Be sure to frequently rinse your cloth out with clean water as you work so you're not just wiping dirty water around. After the water has dried, polish the counter with a dry microfiber cloth.
Vinegar is an acid, which makes it perfect for cutting through the grease and gunk that can accumulate on kitchen counters. It's also a natural deodorizer and disinfectant. As I've transitioned to homemade cleaning products, I've found that vinegar is the ingredient I use the most.
“Vinegar is a good cleaner because it's acidic, but when you add dishwashing liquid/dish soap to it (which is a base or neutral) - you neutralise the vinegar. You take away the very thing that makes it work well. “The dishwashing liquid works that well on its own. Adding the vinegar is a pointless step.”
Add Shine
To put a shine on your granite, pour a little cooking oil on a soft cleaning cloth and wipe it across the countertop. Buff it gently. This makes the counter a little bit stain-resistant and gives it a glossy shine.
