C25 standardised
Concrete footings and slabs on grade typically require a concrete of 3,500 to 4,000 psi. Suspended slabs, beams, and girders (as often found in bridges) require 3,500 to 5,000 psi. Traditional concrete walls and columns tend to range from 3,000 to 5,000 psi, while 4,000 to 5,000 psi is needed for pavement.
Footing thickness - 8 to 12 inches. Footing depth - varies based on frost line and soil strength (some footings can be shallow, while other must be deep)
If you are opting for domestic construction, M20 and M25 are suitable. Whereas, if you want concrete for road construction, M30 is mostly preferred. Similarly, for heavy commercial constructions, concrete grades between M35 and M45 are used owing to their high durability.
Can I use Quikrete for footings? Yes, in fact, I recommend using Quikrete Fast-Setting concrete mix for footings. Because you can pour it in dry and add water later without needing to mix, it makes things much simpler.
In addition to being cheaper to install the Quikrete system is also significantly stronger than traditional concrete. Other strength benefits of the Quikrete system are that it sets up much faster (a few hours) and has minimal dust.
Which type of cement is best for constructing the foundation? The foundation carries the load of the construction and hence needs to be strong and durable. Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) is the ideal cement to be used as it hydrates slowly and gives high final strength.
GRADE: C25 CONCRETE
A multi-purpose concrete that is used on a wide range of commercial and domestic construction sites. C25 is often used as a foundation concrete mix when pouring foundations (footings). It is also the ideal concrete for domestic slab foundations for house and bungalow floors.
It is important to note that IS 456 mandates that the minimum grade of concrete has to be M20 for RCC structures and buildings. Though some of the lower grades and its strength can be achieved by volume batching, it has to be designed.
A concrete mix of 1 part cement : 2 parts sand : 4 parts coarse aggregate (by volume) should be used for footings. Concrete must be placed within half an hour of mixing. Brickwork – Place your concrete into your trench. Work the concrete into awkward places and corners using a shovel.
For a 3-storey (G+2) house, using standard 9″ thick walls, it is recommended the minimum size of the Foundation for footing should be 5'× 5'× 5′ (1.5m x 1.5m×1.5m) with respect to length, breadth and depth. How deep is the foundation of a 4 story building ?
In most cases, the best concrete mixture for footings would be as follows: If you are using reinforced concrete, we would recommend opting for a mixture that's between 3,500 – 4,000 psi. If you have chosen to use concrete that is non-reinforced, your mixture can be of a different strength.
How much does a 30x40 concrete slab cost? The average cost is $4 to $8 per square foot. The median price is about $6 per square foot. Based on these averages, you may pay $4,800 to $9,600 with a median estimate of $7,200.
C25 standardised mix concrete or ST2 Concrete is widely versatile and used in numerous commercial and domestic projects. It is commonly used for footings and foundations, including mass concrete fill, trench fill and reinforced fill, as well as general groundworks.
J&W Lumber recommends using QUIKRETE to build your concrete footings. Take a look at this step-by-step informational video on how to build the footings for your deck.
To produce one yard of concrete, you'll need to use about 45 80-pound bags (or 90 40-pound bags). Because of the time and labor required to prepare such a large quantity, it is usually more cost- and time-effective to have ready mix concrete delivered.
The king of materials used in foundation construction is concrete. It's sturdy, strong in compression, and very durable. It's also moisture resistant and watertight.
The depth of concrete you need will depend on the use: footings for extensions, for example, will need to be at least 200mm thick, while around 100mm should be deep enough for a shed base.
Poured concrete is the strongest type of foundation for a house. Concrete is incredibly strong and durable, and it can be poured into any shape. This makes it ideal for supporting the weight of a house. Block foundations are also very strong, but they are not as flexible as poured concrete.
Rapid Set Concrete is not designed for use in any structural application. Extreme temperatures will impact set time of Rapid Set Concrete.
But is that really the most effective and efficient approach? Again, we say yes. Let's cover three reasons why ready-mix is a much better option than hand mixing bags of concrete mix. Cost: Don't think that mixing concrete from bags is cheaper than getting a delivery.
