The best way to tackle this problem is with an acidic solution, which can cut through the limescale. This can be achieved by using household products like baking soda and white vinegar.
For this cleaning task, the more, the merrier, pour vinegar (about 1 litre) and a few cups of bicarb will work fine. Give the solution a mix until you have a paste. Then, add it to the toilet bowl and leave it to soak for as long as possible, at least an hour.
Muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) can remove limescale deposits. However, it is very corrosive, can be dangerous to the skin and eyes, and should not be inhaled. Use citric acid cleaning solutions.
Step 1: Pour 1 cup of white vinegar directly into the toilet bowl and use a toilet brush to mix this around in the water. Leave it to sit for around one minute. Step 2: Then, add 1 cup of baking soda to the toilet bowl, followed by 1 to 2 cups of white vinegar.
Cleaning with a mixture of baking soda and vinegar in the bathroom can work really well. To clean your toilet with vinegar, pour a cup of vinegar in the toilet bowl and let sit overnight. The next morning, sprinkle a little baking soda into the bowl, scrub, and then flush clean.
Sinks, Tubs, Porcelain Toilets, and Ceramic Tile
A way to safely and effectively clean these surfaces is to grab mild soap, sponges, towels, white vinegar, and baking soda. In a bowl, combine hot water with a couple of drops of mild soap, and using a sponge or rag, clean the surface.
Hydrochloric acid is much stronger than acetic acid, for example, and therefore tends to remove scale faster. Weak acids such as acetic or citric acids may be preferred, however, where damage to the substrate is to be minimised.
Pour lemon juice or vinegar on the deposits. Don't dilute the vinegar or lemon juice, or you'll reduce its effectiveness. Leave the acidic liquids in place for a few hours to do their work, preferably overnight. Scrub the scale with a stiff-bristled toilet brush before flushing the toilet.

Vinegar and baking soda produce that oh-so-familiar chemical reaction that powers through buildup and loosens tough stains. While it might seem like it's chewing its way through grime, it's not powerful enough to damage the porcelain finish of the toilet bowl.
In this case, a basic toilet cleaning product may not be enough, and you will need to use undiluted bleach. As a one-stop cleaning solution, pour one cup of bleach around the bowl. Then tackle every inch with a toilet brush or a handheld scrub brush. Let it sit for five minutes, then flush.

Use Coke specifically when you need to remove problem stains like limescale or rust. If you want to avoid the risk of tinting your toilet with Coke, a light-colored carbonated soft drink such as 7UP or tonic water will also suffice.
Don't leave CLR for longer than two minutes.

Citric acid
More importantly, it's probably even more effective than vinegar for getting rid of that brown stain in the toilet. Simply pour a kettle of almost boiling water into the bowl, follow up with 250ml of citric acid, and leave it for some hours – preferably overnight. The next day, scrub and flush.
