Luckily, with a few supplies from your local hardware store, you can break through the lock to access what you need. By either using bolt cutters, an angle grinder, or a hacksaw, you'll be able to open most steel locks.
Bolt cutters are the common tool of choice for to cut padlocks during forcible-entry. Unfortunately, most padlocks are made of case-hardened steel, which is very strong in comparison to the materials that bolt cutters were intended to cut.
If you misplace your key or forget the combination to a lock, you may need to cut through the lock to get it back. Most steel locks can be opened by either using bolt cutters, an angle grinder, or a hacksaw.
A reciprocating saw is a saw with a blade that moves back and forth in front of the saw. Equipped with a metal grinding blade, this reciprocating saw can be used to cut through the bolts on the lock. Always wear safety goggles and a face mask while sawing metal to prevent metal dust from getting in your eyes or lungs.
This is a less hassle way on how to break a padlock without tools. All you need to do is find two wenches. Put both of their U-shaped clasp between the shackles and quickly pull closer until their handles meet. This will help in detaching the locking mechanism between the shackle and the body of the padlock.
If you don't have bolt cutters, use a hacksaw, angle grinder, or reciprocating saw instead. Secure the chain in a clamp or vise, then saw through 1 link. Keep sawing until both sides of the link are cut in two.
To cut a lock, all you need is a pair of bolt cutters. Hold the lock at an angle as you cut through it, which will make the cutting process easier. You can also cut through a lock with an angle grinder. Make sure to put on gloves and a face shield first, since grinders can produce sparks.

Try bolt cutters.
If you want to try to cut open the lock itself, cut the shackle. This will not work on most master locks, as they are made of case hardened steel.
Disc locks are the industry standard and they were made specifically for self-storage units. Disc locks cannot be removed with bolt cutters because the hasp (or the U-shaped part of a padlock) cannot be reached. A disc lock cannot be broken apart with a hammer, either, as a padlock or keyless lock could be.
Use Bolt Cutters
There are a variety of tools you can use to cut through a chain link fence. However, bolt cutters are one of the cheapest and easiest to use. Most DIYers can easily get their hands on a pair. Preferably, the bolt cutters should be 8-10 inches.
Hacksaws
Just like a pair of cable cutters, a hacksaw is cheap and pretty easy to carry around unnoticed. And just like the cable cutters, it will tear through a cable lock very easily. With enough time, a hacksaw will also cut through low quality u-locks and chains which tend to be made from thin, soft metal.
One of the easiest ways to break a padlock is with a hammer. Start by inserting 2 fingers into the padlock's shackle loop and pull up on the shackle to create tension. Then, tap the side of the lock that contains the fixed end of the shackle with a hammer using quick, short strikes.
Open up a bobby pin and bend it at a 90-degree angle.
Spread the wavy and straight ends of the bobby pin apart so that it bends at the center and looks like an L. This bobby pin will serve as the pick that you'll use to unlock the door.
Angle Grinder
This can be the best way to cut a lock. Known as a side grinder disc grinder, this is a mobile machine used for sharp cutting and honing. The 60 grit disc, which is 3⁄64 inches (1.2 mm) in thickness, is the ideal size. It is compact but can be used to cut thick metal shackles.
Hacksaw. A hacksaw is a multipurpose sort of saw fruitful for cutting a variety of materials for jobs around the home. One of the advantages of using a hacksaw is that one blade can successfully cut stainless steel, wood, and plastic.
To unlock a privacy lock you'll need a flathead screwdriver that is small enough to fit into the hole on the doorknob. Insert your screwdriver into the hole and push forward. If your doorknob is using a push-button type privacy lock, then you should hear a loud click and the door will open.
