Horizontal fences are composed only of fence posts and horizontally-oriented fence boards. No stringers are used. Posts are usually six feet apart to minimize the possibility of fence boards sagging. For many houses and neighborhoods, horizontal fences are the de facto look.
Rails. Rails are used as additional support for a fence. They are typically 2x4" thick strips of wood that run horizontally along the fence.
Foil is the most popular fencing sport in the U.S. compared to epee and sabre. FIE foil blades are NOT required in U.S. local or national tournaments but are required for all international tournaments. Epee – Epee has a bigger guard compared to foil. The blade on the epee weapon is also wider, thicker, and heavier.

Wood fences: Diagonal Fences
It is usually used to delimit paths or tracks, protect steep slopes and, sometimes, for riding arenas. Diagonal fences are built with 1.5-metre-high machined vertical posts (12 cm in diameter) and 2.5-metre-long machined horizontal and diagonal rails (10 cm in diameter).
There aren't many people who will say that a vertical fence is more attractive than a horizontal one. Horizontal fences are sleek, modern, and unique—giving your home a standout look in the neighborhood. And if your home already has a modern design, a vertical fence will likely stand out as well (but in the wrong way).
A horizontal fence has the end of each fence board running side to side. The high-quality, durable lumber necessary to keep a horizontal fence from sagging also helps the fence last longer. The stringers at the top and bottom of the panels provide additional support as well.
They can be more expensive than vertical fences because they require more lumber. Additionally, horizontal fences are more likely to sag over time due to the weight of the pickets pulling down on the posts. This is more of an issue for taller fences versus those that use less lumber.
Gap: Small gaps between horizontal boards are standard for horizontal fences and impact the final appearance of the fence. Generally, we will use gaps between ¼” and 1”. If you want no gaps between boards, we would recommend using a tongue and groove board.
BOARD AND BATTEN FENCING IS A FULL PRIVACY FENCE STYLE SIMILAR TO A VERTICAL BOARD FENCE IN CONSTRUCTION, BUT BUILT WITH A DELIBERATE SPACE BETWEEN THE BACK BOARDS WHICH IS OVERLAYED WITH A “BATTEN BOARD” CREATING A PRIVATE FENCE PANEL.
A lattice consists of thin diagonal slats that are arranged in a crisscross pattern. The crisscross patterns create square holes with the points at the top and bottom and the middle of the right and left sides. Lattice comes in four different styles including cross hatch, crisscross square, horizontal and arch top.
Western red cedar stack fence, developed by early American pioneers, has also commonly been referred to as Battlefield fence, Worm fence, Snake fence, and ZigZag fence.
California style chain link fences combine the durability and affordability of chain link fencing with the unique and popular look of wood fencing. Wooden posts replace the steel ones used in traditional chain link fence and are typically connected at the top and bottom with wood beams.
Corral fence means a structure consisting of vertical posts with horizontal connectors, so constructed that 75 percent or more of the vertical surface is open. Corral fences do not include chain link fences.
Larchlap fence panels
They are manufactured using thinly sawn slats that run horizontally across the lap panels. These slats run the full width of the panel and sometimes have vertical battens which hold them in place.
