So, is using dish soap in your toilet a good or bad idea? Well, Peter Daly, the CEO of Master Plumbers, explained to News.com.au that "it's safest to use cleaning products specifically designed for flush toilets," which means that dish soap isn't ideal.
As it turns out, you can actually unclog a toilet with dish soap instead of turning to a harsh, toxic bowl cleaner. Just as natural dish soap helps break down dirt, grease, and food that may be stuck on dishes and utensils, it can help break down what's in your toilet bowl.
Pour Hot Water into the Toilet
If you need to heat some in the microwave or the stovetop, you don't want it to reach boiling temperatures. Boiling water can cause toilet porcelain to crack. Allow the hot fluid to sit in the toilet for a few minutes to loosen the clog.
Homemade drain cleaner can break up even the toughest clogs in your sink. Baking soda, vinegar and Dawn dish soap along with boiling water can safely unclog a drain.
Normally, a bar of soap is not big enough to clog up the sewage PVC pipe which is usually 2″ in diameter, a bar of soap could be very slippery, it won't clog up or plug up the toilet, will be dissolved in a day or two if it is accidentally flushed down the toilet. Don't worry about it.
The majority of my solutions contain blue Dawn® Ultra because it's concentrated. The regular Dawn is a non-concentrated version, (also called Simply Clean) so more diluted. Platinum Dawn is almost identical to Ultra, but it contains more surfactants.
It makes sense when you think about it. Because dish soap is meant to break up oils and lift grease and grime from your flatware and utensils, there's no reason why it shouldn't work on the oily soap and human grease build-up accumulating in your tub or shower!
Pour boiling hot water down the drain. This can dissolve mildew, slime, soap scum, and other similar clogs. Put half a cup of baking soda in the drain, then pour half a cup of vinegar down after it. Let this mixture sit for an hour, and then check the drain.

Fill a spray bottle with the vinegar and spray the scummy surface. After 15 minutes or longer, scrub the surface with a non-abrasive stiff-bristled brush and then rinse the area. White vinegar is an acid that breaks down the minerals in soap scum and other buildup, making it easier to remove.
Soaps are unique compounds because soap molecules contain a small polar end (known as the polar head) and a long non-polar tail: Because of the two different parts of the molecule, a soap molecule is soluble in water and at the same time can dissolve fats.
To start, grab that bottle of Dawn (or any other dish soap) from your kitchen sink and the broom stowed away in your closet. Dish soap is designed to cut through tough grease and food stains on our delicate dishware, but it will also disintegrate the dirty marks and soap scum lining your tub.
Using the soap on alternate days will do your skin more good than using it daily. One, soap dries the skin generally until and unless it is heavily laden with moisturizers, something like Dove. Two, daily use of soap tends to harm the general normal good bacteria which are needed for skin barrier and immunity purpose.
While the complete “recipe” is inaccessible for the masses, a Dawn spokeswoman has pointed the magic to uniquely powerful surfuctants—or, the chemical compounds that reduce the surface tension of a liquid when it's dissolved, aka the stuff that cuts the grease.
Hot Water and Dish Soap
Wait for 10-15 minutes while the dish soap and hot water soften the clog. Once you do so, the toilet will unclog and flush freely. Alternatively, you could use hot water and shampoo from the sink if you wish to clear your toilet without leaving your bathroom.
The main reason you're seeing bubbling water in your toilet bowl is from a lack of airflow in your sewer line through a vent pipe. If something is blocking one of your sewer lines or a vent stack, you'll start to get bubbling in your toilet bowl as air tries to escape.
Pour or squeeze ½ cup of Dawn® dish detergent down the drain. For a tougher clog, use 1 full cup. Let the detergent work its way down the drain for 30 minutes.
Can boiling water unclog a drain? If your drain is clogged with ice cubes — then yes, boiling water can unclog a drain. But if your drain is clogged with the things that normally clog drains — grease, oil, dirt, hair, etc. — then no, boiling water isn't likely to help.
In modern houses some of the drain pipes are PVC plastic, and usually the boiling water will just flow through it without causing any damage. But if it goes through the pipe slowly the PVC could the deform.
Many doctors say a daily shower is fine for most people. (More than that could start to cause skin problems.) But for many people, two to three times a week is enough and may be even better to maintain good health. It depends in part on your lifestyle.
