Freon™ NU-22B™ has an ASHRAE A1 classification and is non-ozone depleting and nonflammable. It is well-suited for AC applications because it closely mimics the operating characteristics of R-22 and works over the same operating pressures as R-22.
There are two different types of blended refrigerants and they are categorized as zeotropic and azeotropic. They can be identified by their refrigerant number as zeotropic blends are assigned a number in the 400 series and azeotropic blends are given a number in the 500 series.
This is correct, you cannot mix R-22 and 422 in a system. Also if any system with a blended gas has a leak, all the gas must be removed and sent away. The blend will leak at different rates and once a leak happens your blend will no longer be correct. You should never just add to a blend after a leak.

422b is a common replacement for r-22 but shouldn't be mixed with r-22.
According to the 609 EPA rule, mixing refrigerants is illegal and anybody caught doing so will be heavily fined.

Allows for use in existing equipment. Genetron 422D makes replacing R-22 in an A/C system easy. In most situations, just recover the R-22, replace any of the critical seals, recharge the system with Genetron 422D, and perform normal checks. Works with existing expansion devices in most cases.
R-422B capacity is 12% lower than R-22, an additional 5% lower than MO99. Mass flow rate of R-422B is 20% higher than R-22, an additional ~10% higher than MO99. R-422D capacity is 8% lower than R-22, similar to MO99. Mass flow rate of R-422D is >30% higher than R-22, an additional 20% higher than MO99.
A refrigerant may be either a pure compound or a mixture (blend) of two or more refrigerants. Examples of pure refrigerants are R12, R22 and R134a. Examples of mixtures are R502, R404A and R407C.
Connect R22 manifold gauge middle hose onto R22 refrigerant container. Flip R22 container upright and open the valve. Watch left and right gauges to see when pressure equalizes. Left-hand gauge should read below 60psi.
No 400-Series blend is a direct replacement for R-22. Mixing R-22 with a 400-Series blend, or mixing multiple 400-Series blends together, creates a new, untested refrigerant with unproven results. Use of alternative refrigerants voids all manufacturer warranties.
Charge the equipment with R-422B as a liquid. Do not charge liquid refrigerant directly into the compressor. The total charge of R-422B will depend on the type of system.
Conditions to avoid : This substance is not flammable in air at temperatures up to 100 °C (212 °F) at atmospheric pressure. However, mixtures of this substance with high concentrations of air at elevated pressure and/or temperature can become combustible in the presence of an ignition source.
Using these retrofit guidelines, many R-22 systems can be retrofitted for use with Freon™ 407C in air conditioning, heat pump applications, and refrigeration applications to allow existing equipment to continue to operate safely and efficiently, even after R-22 is no longer available.
An R-22 Refrigerant Replacement for Direct Expansion Refrigeration. Freon™ MO29 (R-422D) refrigerant is a low-toxicity, non-ozone depleting hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) replacement for R-22.
Mixing refrigerants is not recommended. R-22 replacements should not be used to top off R-22 systems.
Because R-22 depletes the ozone layer, production and import was further limited in 2010. In 2020, R-22 will no longer be produced or imported. After 2020, only recovered, recycled, or reclaimed supplies of R-22 will be available.
The hydrocarbon component in R422B helps promote oil return in systems containing mineral oil or alkylbenzene. Although HFC refrigerants won't mix with these oils, the hydrocarbon component thins the mineral oil and keeps it moving around the loop.

Freon™ MO99 refrigerant is a relatively affordable and eco-friendly alternative for R22 air conditioners. You can use it to revive older systems with little to no refrigerant charge, as well as systems that need replacement components.
422B is often used for lower-temperature applications such as supermarket freezers, air conditioners, and refrigerated transport units. 422B is sometimes confused with R22, which was its predecessor before being replaced by the cleaner alternative HFC refrigerants.

The liquid densities are approximately the same for R22 and R422D, while the vapor density is higher for R422D than that for R22. Both the liquid heat capacity and the vapor heat capacity are 15–25% higher for R422D, and the difference increases with the increase of the pressure.
