When removing the tick, wear protective gloves so you don't spread bacteria from the tick to your hands. If bare hands are used to remove the tick, be sure and wash with soap and water. Once removed, don't crush the tick as this could transmit disease. Instead, rinse it down a sink or flush it in a toilet.

The hot dry environment of a dryer sucks the moisture right out of their little arachnid bodies and leaves them dead. If you want to cleanse your clothing from ticks, make certain you use the opposite approach to washing your clothes. Put them in the dryer first, because ticks won't die in the wash.
If a tick is crawling on you
Once they attach to you, they will feed on your blood and can spread germs. A tick that is crawling on you but not attached or full of blood could not have spread germs. However, if you have found a tick crawling on you, it's a sign there may be others.
Garlic, sage, mint, lavender, beautyberry, rosemary and marigolds are some of the most familiar and effective tick-repelling plants, and they are great to use in landscaping borders around decks, walkways, pet runs, patios and other areas to keep ticks away.

How Does Heat and Carbon Dioxide Attract Ticks? When ticks are questing, or searching for a new host, they rely on stimuli to help guide them in the right direction. Such stimuli include heat and carbon dioxide, which all warm-blooded mammals give off, letting ticks know they're guaranteed a meal.
Submerging a tick in original Listerine or rubbing alcohol will kill it instantly. However, while applying these substances may kill the tick, it will stay attached to your dog's skin unless you remove it with tweezers.
