Preferred wall insulation is R-24, because conductive heat transfer does not favor a direction. Convective heat rises, but heat conduction simply goes through solid objects: walls, floors, ceilings.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, R-values for exterior walls in colder climates should be at least R-13 to R-23. In milder climates, a lower R-value may be sufficient. For example, in a moderate climate, an R-value of R-13 to R-15 is typically recommended.
Thermal resistance of R24. Insulating wool is a flexible material made of fibreglass without formaldehyde. It is used for the insulation of walls and attics and improves energy and acoustic efficiency. It has resistance to fire and mildew.
We recommend installing a minimum of R4. 0 ceiling insulation. If you live in cooler climates such as Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide then we recommend upgrading to R5. 0 or R6.
The optimal R-value for most homes is 30, but you can go as high as 38 if you live in a tropical climate. Anything higher than 38 indicates an over-insulated space. While you might think that too much insulation can't be bad, there are some significant consequences to consider.
A home requires air circulation, so if it is too tightly sealed and over-insulated, moisture can build up that causes mold. With too many layers of insulation, mold can even grow in between the layers. Mold in the home can cause allergy flare-ups, allergic reactions, and breathing issues.

For many years, maintenance professionals have used the one-megohm rule to define the allowable lower limit for insulation resistance. The rule states that insulation resistance should be approximately one megohm for each 1000 volts of operating voltage, with a one megohm minimum.
Vacuum insulated panels have the highest R-value, approximately R-45 (in U.S. units) per inch; aerogel has the next highest R-value (about R-10 to R-30 per inch), followed by polyurethane (PUR) and phenolic foam insulations with R-7 per inch.
R19 Insulation offers superior thermal insulation compared to R13. With a typical thickness of 6.25 inches, R19 fiberglass is designed for use in 2x6 wall cavities, making them suitable for colder climates where higher thermal resistance is necessary.
Depending on where you live and the part of your home you're insulating (walls, crawlspace, attic, etc.), you'll need a different R-Value. Typical recommendations for exterior walls are R-13 to R-23, while R-30, R-38 and R-49 are common for ceilings and attic spaces.
In finance, an R-squared above 0.7 would generally be seen as showing a high level of correlation, whereas a measure below 0.4 would show a low correlation.
Use R-13 or R-15 kraft-faced fiberglass or mineral wool insulation rolls for 2x4 stud walls. Wall assemblies, especially those in older homes, are built with two-by-four (2x4) studs. The wall thickness will be 3-1/2 inches, not 4 inches. The width of modern 2x4s is 3-1/2 inches.
Minimum R-values
This means that the minimum total R-value will have to be 2.8 for your wall insulation, 2.25 for your floor insulation and anywhere between 4.1 and 5.1 for your roof – depending on if it's a dark or light colour.

High R-value: Because foam board insulation has a greater R-value than standard fiberglass/batt insulation, it is more effective at insulating and decreasing heat loss.
Fiberglass and rock wool batts—2x4 walls can hold R-13 or R-15 batts; 2x6 walls can have R-19 or R-21 products.
The installed insulation R-value for 2x6 fiberglass batt ranges between R-19 and R-21. When blown or sprayed cellulose insulation is used, the R-value is typically R-20 for 2x6 walls.
Exterior Garage Walls
Typically these will be constructed from standard 2-by-4 studs which will define the amount of insulation that you can have installed. You should be targeting an R-Value of R-13 or R-15 in these areas to properly maximize your insulation in this application.
If we wish to label the strength of the association, for absolute values of r, 0-0.19 is regarded as very weak, 0.2-0.39 as weak, 0.40-0.59 as moderate, 0.6-0.79 as strong and 0.8-1 as very strong correlation, but these are rather arbitrary limits, and the context of the results should be considered.
