Use a silicone caulk instead. Silicone caulks form a smooth film which resists mildew. They are made in multiple colors so you can match the color of your grout or tile (approximately). Some are even ``sanded'' which means they contain sand which gives them more of the look and feel of real grout.
Grout-Less Options for Your Shower Walls
Instead of covering your wall with multiple pieces of tile, your renovator attaches a slab that's big enough to cover your entire shower wall. Slabs are available in natural stone and engineered stone, as well as materials that look like acrylic, wood, and other materials.
Butting tiles together can lead to various problems such as a chattered edge. A chattered edge is when the edge of the butted stone chips do to the compression stress it is subjected to when the stone naturally expands due to moisture, temperature or it moves from structural movement.
The Role of Tile Spacers
Tile spacers are crucial in ensuring that tiles and stones are evenly spaced and aligned during installation. They help to maintain a consistent gap between tiles, which is essential for achieving a professional-looking finish.
There are three main downsides to skipping the grout when installing tiles: If the tiles are not identical, they will appear unaligned; Dirt can get beneath them and damage them in the long run; Movement can lead to breakage.

Caulk is excellent at preventing water infiltration and air leaks, making it ideal for sealing gaps and cracks where water or air penetration may be a concern. Caulk might require changing as it ages. Using caulk instead of grout in areas where grout is traditionally employed is not advisable.
Seamless bathrooms don't have any grout lines where mold can form. Easy to clean: Even if mold doesn't take hold, grout lines are often hard to keep clean, and they can discolor over time. In a bathroom without any tiles, however, all of the surfaces can simply be wiped down.
Caulk. Unlike grout, caulk is a latex-, silicone-, or acrylic-based product that, even after setting, maintains some flexibility, which is great for areas that need to accommodate movement and expansion, such as a bathroom or other moisture-dense places.
ANSI defines the requirement for grout joints in ceramic and natural stone tile installations in A108. 02 Section 4.3. 8. This section states that under no circumstances should the grout joint be less than 1/16" (1.6 mm).
If the area in which you'd like to install tiles isn't heavily trafficked and is relatively dry—or if you just really hate grout lines—it is possible to install tile without grout by laying the tiles directly next to each other with no space between.
