It depends on the size of the porcelain tiles. Take an instance, a piece of 12x12 porcelain tiles typically weighs is over 1.8 pounds, and a box of 15 tiles can hold 15 to 30 pounds.

Consider that a standard 1¼-inch thick piece of granite weighs between 18 and 20 pounds per square foot, and 2-inch granite can top 30 pounds per square foot. In contrast, modern porcelain slabs weigh either 2.81 pounds or 5.8 pounds per square foot, depending on the size chosen.

Tiling Weights
When tiling onto walls consideration must be given to weight of the tiles, always check that the background you're tiling onto can take the weight of your tiles, plus adhesive and grout.
Estimate the number of tiles you need by determining the square footage of the area you're tiling plus the square footage of each tile. For example, if you're adding a tile floor to a 100-square-foot bathroom, and each tile is 12″ x 12″ (one square foot), you'll need about 100 tiles.

Measurements, Sizes, and Patterns
Tiles are commonly referred to by their "nominal" sizes which might not be the "true" measurement of the material. An example of this is when a 12" x 12" porcelain tile has a "true" measurement of 11-7/8" x 11-7/8".
Marble tile weighs 13.34 pounds per square foot for each inch of thickness; multiply the thickness in inches by 13.34 to find the weight of a single square foot of tile. To determine the weight of quarter-inch-thick marble tile, multiply 0.25 inches by 13.34, or 3.34 lbs. per square foot.
A 12" x 24" (30cm x 60cm) ceramic tile weights around 4 lbs (1.8kg). A single 10-inch by 20-inch square would weigh around 2.5 pounds (1.23kg). Another typical size is 9 feet by 18 inches, which weighs approximately 6.4 pounds (3kg). Lastly, a 10-foot-by-30-inch-by-76-centimeter tile weighs around 11 pounds!
How many tiles are in a box? This will vary depending on the size of the tile. But typically you get anywhere between 6 and 48 tiles in a box. But it's not how many tiles are in a box that is important but the coverage.
That means they are 12″x12″ in size – unless, of course, that measurement is a nominal one. In that case, those tiles are actually 11-7/8″ x 11-7/8″ in size.
The estimated weights assume ceramic tiles weighing 4 pounds/square foot and stone tiles weighing 6 pounds/square foot.
If you only have 100 square feet of tile to install, you may need as few as 7-8 boxes of tile. But don't forget about the other products. You will need thinset cement to install 12×12 tile. And unless you are installing on concrete you will also need a tile underlayment.
Its hardness makes it more difficult for a DIYer to work with, as they'll need a specialized tile cutter to cut porcelain to shape. This means porcelain tile installation is typically a job left to professionals.
For you DIYers who like to get handy, ceramic tiles are far easier to work with. Especially in areas that require a lot of cuts to install your tiles neatly. Porcelain is much harder to cut and can require professional tools and skills to create the same effect.
Cost of Porcelain vs. Ceramic. While both ceramic and porcelain are less expensive than most renovation materials, their price differences are due to their density differences. Porcelain tiles are therefore more expensive than ceramic tiles.
