Keep your door open, and press and hold the Program button until the keypad on your lock is flashing green. Press the lock button and enter a new master code. Press the lock button again, and re-enter the master code. Press the lock button one final time, and you have a new master code for your Kwikset lock.
Your Smart Lock will give you low-battery warnings for multiple weeks before it loses power. However, if your Smart Lock dies entirely before you can replace your batteries, your key will still work. This is the same deadbolt key that you've always used - the Smart Lock doesn't change the key needed.
Turn the key to the left to unlock the door for a lever, and turn the key to the right to unlock the door for a knob.
By bending the card and giving it a little push, it should easily slide further into the door. Step 3: Bend and wiggle the card: Apply pressure to the door and continue to bend and wiggle the card between the door and yourself. Eventually, the card will slide far enough in to compress the latch—thus unlocking the door!
Safe with key override: opening up a safe with an override key is fairly simple. Access the override lock, which is usually hidden behind a removable panel beside the keypad. Then, simply replace the battery pack behind the door.
Insert the two points of the bobby pin into the lock. Press the bobby pin forward into the lock— depending on the door, simple forward pressure can be enough to open the lock. Picker of Locks says to keep even pressure on the pin as you elevate each lock. Using a second pin that is straightened may help.
Even one of Kwikset's most vocal critics, Marc Weber Tobias (more on him in just a bit), told us that the SmartKey lock is virtually impossible to pick. Other videos criticizing Kwikset point out that the lock can be easily compromised using a specialized bypass tool used by locksmiths.
Master key: The master key can open all locks you have in your residential or commercial property.
You may insert the pick's thin corner above the first one; the light key-like tool works as the smart key. After you've put the pick inside, keep holding it and don't pressurize too much; use another hand to hold and turn the tension tool.
Jammed bolt work
The jam can be the main reason your safe won't open as you hear the motor trying to retract the bolt work. Here's what you can do: press firmly on the door a few times to loosen the bolt work. But make sure not to press on the keypad and handle.
The recommended batteries to use in your Door Lock are AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries. Make sure there are no lithium NiCad batteries in use.
Amber flashes mean it is locked, while green flashes mean it is unlocked, and red means low battery.
To unlock a privacy lock you'll need a flathead screwdriver that is small enough to fit into the hole on the doorknob. Insert your screwdriver into the hole and push forward. If your doorknob is using a push-button type privacy lock, then you should hear a loud click and the door will open.
Locking and unlocking with the keypad and app
In addition to using a physical key, the Halo can be unlocked with the touchscreen keypad (or physical keypad) or the Kwikset app. Using the touchscreen keypad to lock and unlock is fairly straightforward. You'll be prompted to set up a PIN code during the app setup.
