Everyday Upkeep. A quick once-over with a lint brush will restore the sensuous nap and soft luster of Ultrasuede®. Periodically, it's also recommended to vacuum the fabric and then dust it gently but thoroughly with a well-wrung damp cloth or sponge. Take care not to get the fabric too wet.
Ultrasuede is designed to be machine-washable. However, we recommend that you use the gentle cycle and wash seperately. You can also handwash these bags. In addition, all Ultrasuede fabrics can be dry-cleaned.
Ultrasuede is a registered trademark for a type of microfiber, a nonwoven fabric. It's marketed as stain-resistant, fade-resistant and easy to clean. It's made from polyester, a synthetic fiber, so unlike real suede, there are no animal products in Ultrasuede.
Ultrasuede feels like natural suede, but it is resistant to stains and discoloration; it can be washed in a washing machine. It has a woven fabric surface, but resists pilling or fraying because it is combined with a polyurethane foam in a non-woven structure.
Soap and water One of the great things about micro suede is that it can be washed in the washing machine. Simply wash the micro suede cover in the washing machine with cold water, and line dry. Never use bleach on your micro suede.
Clean Microfiber Upholstery
But a spritz of Windex can work wonders. Simply spray the surface lightly—careful not to soak the fibers—then brush very gently with a soft-bristled scrub brush, working in the same direction. Tough stains might require a second application.
Most notably, Ultrasuede is not penetrable by claws and it doesn't retain odors, making it one the most pet-friendly fabrics on the market. If you have a cat that tends to tear up your sofas and you want durability in your upholstery, Ultrasuede is a great option.
Both Ultrasuede and Alcantara are also more water resistant than animal hide-based suede.
AF376/1857 UltraSuede ®
A luxurious faux suede material that is highly durable, stain-resistant and light weight. This faux suede material possesses qualities of being both supple and pliable while remaining luxurious. General areas of use are seating, headliners, bulkheads and sidewalls.
Laundering/Dry Cleaning
Ultrasuede® is designed to be machine-washable. However, it is often combined with materials (for lining and the like) that don't stand up to a washing machine.
Baking soda, with its ability to absorb grease, odors, and clean dirt is a great choice for cleaning suede. All you need to do is sprinkle baking soda on your suede, where it is dirty, and then rub it in with a soft brush. Then, let it sit for 15 minutes or so and then brush it off. The dirt and oil should go away too.
Wrinkle-resistant Ultrasuede® products almost never require ironing, but if you do iron Ultrasuede®, brush the fabric with a lint brush in one direction and make sure to use a pressing cloth and to press the fabric gently, with your iron set at or below 120ºC/250ºF ("Synthetic Fabrics," "Low").
If you have an “S” cleaning code, it's time to bring out the secret weapon to cleaning microfiber—rubbing alcohol. It's one of the best home remedies for the task. Fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray it directly on the stains and armrests, which can get particularly dirty.
Clean your microfiber couch regularly with a quick vacuum, using your vacuum's upholstery attachment. You can also use a stiff fabric brush ($10, Amazon) to loosen dirt and restore the fabric. Do your best to keep the surface free of crumbs, dust, and anything that might harm the fabric.

Many automakers use Alcantara as a seat insert and trim the seat with leather. Alcantara and Ultrasuede are different marketing names of the same type of material.

Simply fill a bucket half full with warm water. Add 2 cups of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of dish soap. Clean your microfiber with this solution using a clean cloth. Allow to air dry.
You tried to clean it with soap and water and found that it made the couch look even worse – and covered with dried water rings. Not to worry – you can make your stained microfiber couch look new again by using rubbing alcohol, some white sponges and a plastic white-bristled brush.
