If your refrigerator is not properly making ice, the freezer temperature could be set too warm. Set the freezer control to a colder setting to improve ice production. Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.
To be sure the control arm is the problem, do a full Frigidaire ice maker reset. Depending on your model, you can perform a hard reset on your ice maker using the control panel. Hold the on/off button until the LED is red. Wait a couple of minutes and then hold the same button until it's green.
First, make sure the freezer is below 10 degrees because the icemaker will not cycle if the temperature in the freezer is over 10 degrees. Next, fill up the icemaker with a cup of water and wait 24 hours to see if it cycles and dumps the ice. If it doesn't cycle, replace the icemaker because it's just bad.
The issue is likely a failed water valve. The water valve is the component that the water line connects to on the back of the fridge. You can test it with a multimeter to confirm it is the issue. Anything outside of 200-500 ohms is a failed valve. Replace the valve, and that will solve the problem.
To begin the ice-making process, a timer triggers the water valve, which fills the ice mold with water.
Check the water fill tubes
Check the fill cup and the tube at the back of the ice maker. If they are covered in ice, look for a blockage. If you see an obstruction, check out our guide on how to clean your refrigerator water line for detailed steps. If that doesn't work, consider replacing the water fill tubes.
If your ice maker isn't producing ice at all or is producing crescents or cubes that are smaller than usual, it's typically indicative of a clog somewhere along the supply line. Cause: A common cause for a clog is frozen water in the line. Fix: To repair a frozen line, slide the refrigerator and unplug it.
This usually is due to the water filter being clogged or a restricted water supply. It is recommended to change the water filter first but if the condition still occurs then you want to check for a saddle valve, a water valve not turned on all the way or a kinked water supply line.
If the water line is clogged, it can usually be cleaned out by running vinegar and baking soda through the line. Clogs are likely to occur if there is a flaw in the water line or if the water filter is not updated.
Common Frigidaire Ice Maker Problems and Solutions
Check connection to water line, no kinks or blockages, and ensure water valve is open. Replace the filter if older than six months. Set freezer temperature to 0°F (-18°C) or lower. Replace the water filter.
Your freezer temperature could be too high, the water inlet valve may not be functioning correctly, your home water pressure may be low, the refrigerator's water filter may be clogged, or the ice maker may need to be replaced.
Check to ensure the ice maker is turned ON – the LED light on your display for the ice maker will be illuminated. Before making ice for the 1st time – be sure to prime the water supply system.
Leave the refrigerator unplugged for 5 minutes. This will allow the ice system to reset. After 5 minutes, replug the refrigerator and turn the switch back on. This should cause the ice maker to start working again.
Several problems can interfere with making ice properly or dispensing ice. The ice maker or dispenser could be jammed or broken, a dirty water filter or kinked water line could be blocking water flow or the water inlet valve could be clogged or faulty.
It's possible that Ice may be jammed. Ice could have melted and frozen around the auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and/or power outages. Remove the ice bin, thaw and empty contents. Clean the ice bin (wipe/dry) and replace in proper position.
The most common reasons your Frigidaire refrigerator icemaker is not making but water works are a malfunctioning icemaker assembly, faulty water valve or a defective electronic control board.
If you don't hear a chime, but you can see movement from the ice maker, then the ice maker was reset. If you don't hear a chime and there is no movement from the ice maker, unplug the fridge or turn it off at the circuit breaker for 2 minutes. Then, power it back up and try again.
Once the line is disconnected, pour 3-4 cups of vinegar with a small funnel into the line and let it soak for 5-10 minutes, clipping shut the open end of the line to avoid the vinegar from draining out. Rinse out the line with clean water before reconnecting the dispenser and ice maker.
What causes an ice maker to stop working? There are several reasons your ice maker may suddenly stop working, including a blocked water dispenser, issues with your water supply line or a clogged water filter.
