Fiberglass pools that are 27' to 35' long have depths which range from 3 ½' to 6 ½'. Fiberglass pools that are 35' to 40'+ long the depths can go anywhere from 3 ½' to 8' deep.
The cons associated with fiberglass pools are primarily related to cost and installation issues. Contrary to popular belief, fiberglass pools aren't cheaper than traditional options like concrete (we'll provide more details in the “Costs” section later on).
Diving. With fiberglass pools, I recommend a freeform 16x40 with 8' deep end.
What Is the Average In-Ground Pool Depth? For residential pools, the standard maximum depth of an inground pool is usually 8 feet. But pool builders can build deeper pools. If you plan to install a diving board, 8 feet is the minimum depth you will need in the deep end.
Size of your Family
If five to six people will be using the pool you may want to consider 15-feet by 30-feet. If you have a bigger family or plan on using the pool to entertain several guests then you may want something in the range of 35 or 40 feet in length.
The depth and length of the swimming pool should be 5 feet and 25 feet if you want to have swim laps in it. Most people are satisfied with the standard depths of 3-5 feet in a pool with multiple depths but it cannot be a right decision if you and your spouse's height are not suitable to those pool depths.
While eight feet is acceptable in the deep end, what's considered the shallow end can't exceed three and a half feet. Water flowing over the steps also shares this maximum depth. City officials enforce these restrictions so people with underdeveloped swimming skills can touch the bottom of the pool.
You'll want to minimize the shallow end as much as possible to elongate the swimming area. We recommend a depth of 4-6ft. Another good option for swimming laps is to opt for an L shaped pool, with a shallower area on the shorter side and a depth of between 4-6ft on the longer side.
spotlight. Fiberglass swimming pools are very compatible with salt water systems. If you are using a vinyl liner pool, you must be careful as those pools tend to have metal parts or connections which salt will eat through and corrode.
Big disclaimer: only authorized fiberglass pool professionals should drain a pool. Never drain a pool without professional assistance. For most (if not all) pool manufacturers, an authorized dealer must drain the pool, or you may void your warranty.
The main advantage of a pool with a deep end is that you can have a diving board or slide. Kids (and adults!) can jump off the side and do tricks. In my own experience, I've also enjoyed swimming down to the bottom to pick up coins or dive for sticks thrown for me.

Fiberglass pools are durable
Both the structure and the surface of a high-quality fiberglass pool can last as long as you want them to, provided you take good care of it. A well-made fiberglass pool can last at least 50 years, with less maintenance required to keep it useful and enjoyable decade after decade.
While they are easier to install, fiberglass pools are nowhere near as durable as a gunite inground pool. The inside surface of this type pool is a gel coat on which the fiberglass has been laminated. The walls of the pool are only ½ to ⅜ inch thick compared to the 8 to 10 inch thickness of a gunite pool.
Making the pool deeper
Making a shallow pool deeper is usually costlier than the other way around. Construction crews need to dig out the pool and provide additional lining in the ground. Some types of pools can be notoriously challenging to dig into when set, and overhauls can cost more than anticipated.
Slides must be installed over a water depth of at least 36 inches, dropping to 42-54 inches as you move away from the slide. This generally means the middle of a pool, neither the shallow end nor all the way in the deep end. Too shallow and a slider can hit the bottom of the pool which is dangerous.

Another way that you can refinish your fibreglass pool is by using chlorinated rubber pool paint. Like epoxy pool paint, chlorinated rubber paint is available in different colours and will apply smoothly to the fibreglass surface. However, it will only last for a few years before needing to be repainted.
