Somewhere in the guts of your old range, there's a series of fuses that protect the circuits. If the clock, the oven light, the receptacle, or a range-top element stops working on your stove, often the problem is a blown fuse.
Many electric ranges include a fuse in the 120-volt circuit that operates such items as oven and stovetop lights, the electric clock, convenience outlets, etc.
Grease, oil, and moisture can accumulate in the power receptacle and can cause a problem. Over time, it may lead to arcing. Even if the electrical short is intermittent and appears harmless, the heating element eventually gets damaged.
Attempt a General Reset: For most electric stoves, you can try a general reset by disconnecting the stove from power for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can often resolve any issues caused by the power outage.

Remove the fuse from its holder. In some cases you may need a small screwdriver to unscrew the fuse holder cap. Look at the fuse wire. If there is a visible gap in the wire or a dark or metallic smear inside the glass then the fuse is blown and needs to be replaced.
Many electric ovens have internal fuses and they can blow for many reasons it can be a wiring issue or a larger problem with your home's electrics. If your fuse is blown then it won't always be easy to fix, a quick replacement won't always solve the problem.

Most range stores use plug fuses which have a threaded base that looks like a light bulb and a glass top. If the fuse is blown, the metal link under the glass surface is going to be blackened and broken. If you can't see this, then a multimeter can be used to test if the fuse is still working.
Typically, electricians repair the power supply for your household appliances and not the appliances themselves. So while they might be able to install your electric stove and fix its power supply, it's still better to rely on an appliance professional to get the job done.
The possible reasons your oven is not working may include a broken baking or broiling element, a malfunctioning spark element (spark electrode), a broken igniter, a blown fuse, an issue with the control board, or outlets not providing enough power to the oven.
Older homes and apartments often have one or more fuse boxes with two to eight fuses. The fuse box is metal and may be in a stairwell, closet, basement, or garage. The box's surface may be flush with the surrounding wall or stick out a couple of inches.
Sometimes a fuse is bad but not necessarily blown. In this case, the best way to test it is with a test light or a multimeter. These are both relatively inexpensive tools and provide an easy way of checking if there's a current running through the fuse.
Consider the Age of Your Range
Electric ranges are not too far behind, usually lasting about 10 to 13 years, depending on how well they are maintained. If your range is already halfway through its lifespan (7.5 years for gas, 6.5 for electric), then it may be smarter to replace it rather than repair it.
The most common issue is that no power is getting to the burner or coil. This could be a tripped breaker, a blown a fuse, or a defective switch. If there is power going to the burner, but it still doesn't work, then there might be an issue with the burner or coil itself, and it will need to be replaced.
Your vintage stove may not have sealed cooling or electrical components, shatter-proof glass or even anti tip technology, so it could be dangerous around smaller children.
Over time, your electric coil burners will become worn out, especially if you frequently use your cooktop. Common signs of damage include blisters, bubbles, or cracks on the coils. Unfortunately, there is no way for these coils to be repaired. Instead, you will need to invest in new electric coils for your cooktop.
Problem: It's a faulty igniter
If you have removed debris from the burner base and secured any loose connections, you may be dealing with a faulty igniter. A quick way to tell if the igniter needs to be replaced is by switching the lights in the room off and turning the control knob to the ignite position.
