Unlike their more bulky commercial cousins, the Emtek electronic locks are smaller and look at home on the wooden door typical of a residential property. As a backup to technology, the EMtouch still has a traditional keyed cylinder which any locksmith can replace or rekey if needed.
Duplicate keys work perfectly for my emtek locks. None of the local hardware stores were able to make copies that worked.
Can items from different brands be keyed alike? Schlage, Baldwin Estates, Baldwin Reserve, and Emtek can all be keyed to the same key. Kwikset, Yale, and Baldwin Prestige can all be keyed to the same key.
You can rekey all of your locks to match an existing key when the locks all have the same keyway. You can test if the locks use the same keyway by taking the existing key you want to use and seeing if it slides into the keyholes of the locks you want to match that key.

Regardless of metal type, all Emtek hardware is completely solid. Their quality is comparable to Baldwin, Grandeur, Nostalgic Warehouse or any other high end line of door locks.

When you move into a new home, you should change the locks on your house. You have no idea how many copies of the house keys are floating around out there from the previous homeowners, so changing the locks will keep your new house more secure.
