Fabuloso is safe to use on most types of flooring, including linoleum, vinyl, sealed wood, and tile. Specifically, it's safe to use on all non-porous materials since it will only sit on top of the surface. It also has a neutral pH balance, which means it won't negatively interact with most floors.
Vinyl flooring should be dry-mopped or vacuumed daily or weekly and—when a deeper cleaning is needed—damp-mopped with a pH-neutral cleaning agent formulated for use on vinyl or with a mild solution of equal parts distilled white vinegar and water mixed with two to three drops of dish soap.
DO NOT use All-Purpose or Multi-Purpose cleaners, detergents, abrasive cleaners or “mop and shine” type products (such as Bleach, Pine-Sol, Clorox Soft Scrub, Fabuloso, Rejuvenate, Mop & Glo, Mr. Clean, Murphy's Oil Soap and similar, unapproved cleaners), as they will dull the finish and sheen of the flooring material.
Avoid using ammonia-based cleaning solutions. Keep away from highly abrasive scrubbers or detergents on vinyl. They can damage the floor, causing cracks or scratches. They might also leave a dull film in their wake.
To clean and sanitize hard, non-food, non-porous surfaces: Dilute 1/2 cup of Fabuloso Antibacterial in a gallon of sterile deionized water and apply to surfaces with a mop, cloth or sponge or apply directly to surfaces with a mop, cloth or sponge. Leave on surfaces for at least 5 minutes. No rinsing required.
Pine-Sol is also safe for luxury vinyl wood plank flooring and vinyl tile flooring, so long as used with a dry mop and you do not saturate the floors.
The lead plaintiffs were Elizabeth Dixon, Jeannie Patora, and Arnold Thomas, who claimed they were deceived about the safety of the products and exposed themselves to harmful bacteria in Fabuloso bottles, which were removed from store shelves due to the serious health risks the products posed for consumers.
Our Swiffer Wet cloths are designed with a pH close to neutral. As well, these cloths have been tested to be safe for use on vinyl plank flooring.
Safely Cleaning Laminate Flooring With Fabuloso
You can easily clean your laminate floors with any Fabuloso product, but you must take precautions.
Generally speaking, most luxury vinyl planks can be cleaned using soap and water and don't require a special LVP cleaner. A dishwashing soap like Dawn is the best way to clean vinyl plank flooring because it will cut grime and grease without stripping your floors or damaging the wear layer.
How Often to Clean Vinyl Plank Flooring. Like the other floors in your home, you should plan to remove crumbs, dust, and debris from your floors at least once a week.
Apple cider or even white vinegar are great natural cleaners for vinyl flooring. To create your cleaning solution, mix one cup of vinegar with a gallon of very warm water. Use this for mopping in place of a commercial cleaning solution. To clean up stains, consider creating a baking soda paste.
Never let Pine-Sol sit on the floor in your home. Immediately wipe up any spills or excess liquid. After cleaning with diluted Pine-Sol, make sure you rinse thoroughly. Using a damp mop with plain water after cleaning can help ensure no residue is left behind.
Make sure to use a product specifically designed for vinyl floors to avoid any damage. As an alternative, natural disinfectants like a solution of vinegar and water can be effective. Mop the floor with the disinfectant and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with clean water to ensure no residue remains.
Routine Care And Maintenance:
Do not use abrasive cleaners, such as steel wool or scouring powder, as these may scratch your floor. Do not use cleaning products that contain surfactants. Dish lotions, laundry detergents, Murphy Oil Soap cleaners should not be used to maintain your flooring.
Commercial vinyl floor cleaners are available, but you can make a simple, effective cleaner for vinyl floors by mixing apple cider vinegar with water. The vinegar's acidity removes dirt without leaving a soapy film. Mix one cup of cider vinegar with a gallon of hot water.
Vinyl flooring is also susceptible to heat damage from sun exposure. Sections of the flooring exposed to sunlight throughout the day will warp the product and start to buckle at the seams between boards.
You should never mix any two cleaning products together. On the label, the brand specifically warns against this: “Do not mix with other household cleaners to avoid irritating fumes.”
I'll be the first to admit that Fabuloso's fragrance is far from refined. But, there's just something about it that smells SO good it's invigorating. If I clean with it, guests will almost certainly light up and remark my place “smells so good!!!” I don't believe it's nostalgia, my family was loyal to Pine Sol.
Use Dish Soap as a Mopping Solution for Most Floors
Here are two solutions to try using dish soap: Mix 1/4 cup mild dish soap and 3 cups warm water. Mix 1/4 cup dish soap, 2 cups white vinegar, 2 cups warm water, and 1/2 cup lemon juice.
