After a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery, you will need to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for at least six weeks or, as advised by your surgeon, to avoid putting pressure on the newly transferred fat cells and allow them to heal and integrate properly.
Immediately after the surgery, sitting directly on your buttocks can apply pressure on the transferred fat cells, potentially damaging them or affecting their ability to establish a blood supply. This is where the BBL pillow comes into play.
Weight Fluctuations. Significant weight fluctuations after a BBL can alter the results. Losing weight can cause the fat cells transferred to your buttocks to shrink, diminishing the volume gained from the procedure.
There is no downtime required after a non-surgical BBL, so you can return to your daily routine as soon as you wish.
BBL Recovery Restrictions and Limitations
The surgeon will recommend that you stay off your buttocks from either sitting or laying down for two to six weeks. This allows the fat to graft to the buttocks. The doctor may recommend sitting on a special cushion to distribute any pressure on the buttocks.
After surgery, your body will likely reabsorb some of the transferred fat cells. This reabsorption is what leads to some initial shrinkage in your BBL results. The surviving fat (about 60-80%) will successfully establish a blood supply in their new location and contribute to your booty's new plumpness.
The Settling Period
It takes a while for the newly transferred fat cells to fully settle into their new location. That's why the period between 3 and 6 months is so crucial. It's when the 'excess' fat cells are either absorbed back into the body or become a permanent part of your newly enhanced buttocks.
What is the recovery time after the Liquid BBL? There is minimal downtime. You can resume normal activities immediately, though we recommend avoiding vigorous exercise for 4-6 weeks. Mild swelling or tenderness at the injection sites usually subsides within a few days.
Sitting down, even on a cushion, creates a great deal of pressure on the delicate fat cells in your new bottom. You can use the toilet, but otherwise, avoid sitting as much as you can.
The duration of wearing a faja after a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a common concern for patients considering this procedure. We typically recommend wearing a faja compression garment for approximately three months. The initial six weeks require 24-hour wear to support fat cell survival and reduce swelling.
Wearing The Right Garments
Aside from solely wearing the correct BBL shaping garment post-surgery, it's important to wear clothing that supports your healing process. Squeezing newly transferred fat is the quickest way to kill those fat cells.
Other types of poor BBL results
Beyond the infamous “diaper booty.” a BBL gone bad can also look like: An asymmetrical behind, with one buttock bigger than the other. Irregular or lumpy contours. Grooves or trenches crossing the buttocks.
“People decide to tighten the garments without talking to their doctor, which can lead to things such as skin abrasions as well as lumps, bumps, and even dents on the buttocks,” he says. Extreme constriction can restrict blood flow to the area, potentially damaging the transferred fat cells, adds Dr. Horn.
What Happens if You Sit After BBL? It takes several weeks for the injected fat grafts in your butt to stabilise and integrate into the blood supply in the area. Therefore, by sitting down too early, you will be reducing the blood circulation in the area, which can damage the fat cells.
After a few weeks, the fat that survives develops its blood supply and integrates naturally into the fat there. Transferred fat should live indefinitely in the buttocks, and Brazilian butt lift results are usually permanent.
DON'T Massage the buttock or any area where fat was transferred. This needs to heal without disruption. Massage is ideally performed under the direction of a massage therapist (preferably one trained in lymphatic massage). This can be started immediately and a typical protocol would be 2-3 x per week for 2 – 3 weeks.
If you sit too soon after a BBL, you could damage the transferred fat cells. Sitting on your buttocks can impact blood circulation, which is necessary for the fat cells to thrive. Sitting for long periods of time too soon after surgery could reduce the circulation, which may destroy the fat cells.
BBL procedures often involve significant fluid buildup as the body begins to heal. After surgery, the body releases serous fluid—a mix of lymph, blood, and other elements. This fluid sometimes produces an odor when it interacts with dressings, compression garments, or the skin.
Various reasons a second-round Brazilian Butt Lift can be ideal include: Correcting asymmetry from a prior BBL. Smoothing lumps and dimples. Adding extra volume to the buttocks and hips.
Have some Gatorade or a similar sports drink available. You will need to stay hydrated after your Brazilian butt lift surgery due to the liposuction. The night after surgery you might want to have some protective sheets or towels on your bed. Your incisions will ooze for the first one to two days.
It's important to avoid strenuous activity after your procedure since it can negatively impact your circulation. Certain exercises that use your buttocks can be especially damaging to the new fat. Plan to rest and avoid exercise for the first 4-6 weeks – Dr.
Night Of BBL Surgery
Sleep: You must sleep on your stomach for the first two weeks after your surgery. Putting a few pillows under your pelvis to allow your hips to be flexed may help with further comfort. Movement is Important: Make sure you are up and walking around immediately after your surgery.
WEARING THE RIGHT GARMENTS:
Squeezing newly transferred fat is the fastest way to kill those cells, so you want to make sure you're not wearing tight or restrictive clothing during your healing process.
Signs of fluffing after BBL
The skin of your buttocks will start to become softer, more elastic, and generally less tense. The shape of the buttocks becomes rounder and should start to feel and look more natural as the skin stretches to accommodate the newly introduced fat.
If you gain or lose weight, the fat cells in your buttocks—as with fat cells elsewhere in your body—will either expand or shrink. This can distort the results of your BBL procedure.
