CINCINNATI – Procter & Gamble announced Monday a breakthrough in technology that will change the shape of toilet paper in its Charmin Ultra Soft rolls. The redesign involves replacing the traditional perforation line on square sheets with a scalloped edge to provide a better, smoother tear, the company said.
So much so that it's the top complaint to call centers. Charmin, which is owned by Procter & Gamble finally decided that enough is enough. So, for the first time in 100 years, they're reinventing the wheel—or rather, the roll—to feature a scalloped perforation instead of a straight edge.
Colored toilet paper was a marketing fad. For a while colored toilet paper sold better, but when sales dropped, companies began making and selling only white paper because it is expensive to add dies to the toilet paper.
