Ice could have melted and frozen around the auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and/or power outages. Remove the ice bin, thaw and empty contents. Clean the ice bin (wipe/dry) and replace in proper position. When new ice is produced, the dispenser should operate.
If your refrigerator is not properly making ice, the freezer temperature could be set too warm. Set the freezer control to a colder setting to improve ice production. Allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. If you have any further questions, please contact us.
If your ice maker is not dropping ice, it could be that there's a blockage in the ice tray, or an ice cube is jammed between the bin and the lever. If this happens, here are some things you can do: Double-check that the lever is pushed down and/or the ice maker is switched on.
To be sure the control arm is the problem, do a full Frigidaire ice maker reset. Depending on your model, you can perform a hard reset on your ice maker using the control panel. Hold the on/off button until the LED is red. Wait a couple of minutes and then hold the same button until it's green.
The most common reasons your Frigidaire refrigerator icemaker is not making but water works are a malfunctioning icemaker assembly, faulty water valve or a defective electronic control board.
This usually is due to the water filter being clogged or a restricted water supply. It is recommended to change the water filter first but if the condition still occurs then you want to check for a saddle valve, a water valve not turned on all the way or a kinked water supply line.
Use the Reset Button or Crush Button on Your Frigidaire Fridge. First, check if your fridge has a Reset button on the control panel at the front of the fridge. Once you have located it, press and hold the button for 5 seconds. If there is no Reset button, press and hold the Crush button for 5 seconds instead.
This will be located at the bottom of the ice maker unit in most models, but in some, it is at the bottom of the ice tray itself. Press the button down until you hear a beep sound. It will require a few seconds of holding it down before it beeps. Your refrigerator ice maker is now reset!
Reset the Ice Maker
More manual models without a control panel may require simply that you raise the fill-bar and lower it. You can also cut power to the fridge or ice maker and then restore power to attempt a reset. Resetting the ice maker returns it to default settings and a default program.
It's possible that Ice may be jammed. Ice could have melted and frozen around the auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and/or power outages. Remove the ice bin, thaw and empty contents. Clean the ice bin (wipe/dry) and replace in proper position.
When the ice reaches a certain thickness (depending on your ice type), the sensor detects a drop in freezer temperature and signals the ice maker to begin the dump cycle.
Ice buckets can sometimes build up with ice that can't eject or has otherwise re-frozen together. Sometimes old ice goes unused at the bottom or ice has jammed on the way out of the bin. Lift the fill bar and pull out the ice bin. Dump the bucket and rinse it thoroughly with warm water, soap, and a splash of vinegar.
A really good refrigerator ice maker will produce 8 to 10 cubes every 90 minutes. In this case, your ice maker should cycle around 16 times each day yielding around 130 cubes in a 24 hour period.
Common Frigidaire Ice Maker Problems and Solutions
Check connection to water line, no kinks or blockages, and ensure water valve is open. Replace the filter if older than six months. Set freezer temperature to 0°F (-18°C) or lower. Replace the water filter.
The most common causes are: The water fill tubes are blocked. The water inlet valve is blocked or frozen. The water filter is dirty or clogged.
Check to ensure the ice maker is turned ON – the LED light on your display for the ice maker will be illuminated. Before making ice for the 1st time – be sure to prime the water supply system.
Use the Reset Button
Put rags and the ice bucket beneath your ice maker to prevent water from accumulating during these tests. Flip the ice maker switch off for 5 seconds, then flip it on. Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
Reset your refrigerator: First, unplug it (or turn off the power at the circuit breaker), and then wait about five minutes for the electrical charge to clear out of it. Then, power it back on again.
Perform a factory reset on a frigidaire refrigerator
Here's how to do it: Hold down the "Power Cool" and "Power Freezer" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. Release the buttons, and your Frigidaire refrigerator will reset.
If your ice maker isn't producing ice at all or is producing crescents or cubes that are smaller than usual, it's typically indicative of a clog somewhere along the supply line. Cause: A common cause for a clog is frozen water in the line. Fix: To repair a frozen line, slide the refrigerator and unplug it.
The ice maker won't cycle and produce ice if temperature isn't low enough in the freezer. If the thermostat is set to keep the freezer at too low of a temperature, then the water supply line going to the ice maker can freeze and the ice maker mold won't fill with water.
Leave the refrigerator unplugged for 5 minutes. This will allow the ice system to reset. After 5 minutes, replug the refrigerator and turn the switch back on. This should cause the ice maker to start working again.
