Lack of Proper Cleaning:
Proper cleaning is essential for maintaining nonstick performance. Thoroughly clean the pan with a grease-fighting dish soap after each use to prevent oil build-up and food sticking. For oil carbonization issues, try an at-home treatment to restore the nonstick surface.

HexClad Cookware advertises its nonstick pans as free from harmful chemicals. But, according to recent reports, HexClad may be using a chemical compound called PTFE as a non-stick coating on its pans. PTFE is a type of PFA, or “forever” chemical, that can build up in the human body and does not break down over time.

It goes on to instruct you to never let your oil smoke or burn. For easy cleaning, this is supposed to be dishwasher safe. Though, to keep the durability of your non-stick, it is recommended to hand wash with a soft sponge in hot soapy water. Do not season the pan.
This is due to the nature of the coating, which naturally releases every time you heat up your pan. Once that coating has worn out, your pan will no longer be non stick—but will still be usable, and can be made relatively non stick once more with the help of cooking fat.
If rust forms on the pan
Simply rub off as much as possible with a rough sponge, wash off in hot water and let it dry completely. Then add oil to the pan and season until it starts to smoke. Wipe off the excess oil after cooling down to create a new natural nonstick surface. Your pan is as good as new again.

Don't: Assume that high heat is best.

To season your pans properly: Heat your pan on medium-low. Spread 1 teaspoon of Vegetable, Avocado, or Olive Oil around the interior of the pan. Leave your pan on medium heat for 2-4 minutes.
