GARDZ is recommend for sealing problem porous surfaces such as bare or damaged drywall, plaster, cement and cementitious coatings, spackling paste and joint compound, calcimine, stucco, acoustic and texture finishes, and uncoated wallpaper.
Time to Skim: Once the Gardz is set, go ahead with the skim coat. A setting-type joint compound is your best bet to start with, and then switch to a lightweight compound for that final touch.
Gardz states it is moisture resistant and they did say it would work well for the area over the tub for splashing, steam, etc. Whereas, Peel Stop breathes and is not moisture resistant.

Generally speaking, you should leave around two to three hours between coats of primer, but always check the primer can's instructions to be sure. It is a good idea to not use any more than three coats of primer when painting to avoid a thick undercoat that doesn't dry properly, leading to cracking or chipping.
You certainly can, and I often do. Allow the Gardz it's proper cure time, then fill or skim over it as you need to.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR PRIMER TO DRY? Most latex primers dry to the touch in 30 minutes to one hour. But for best results, don't paint until the primer completely dries—which can take up to 3 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Wallpapering over Zinsser Gardz or Zinsser Peel Stop is fine. Wallpapering over any of the other Zinsser primers is slightly more difficult, just because they're waterproof. This means wallpaper paste is less likely to stick. Abrade the Zinsser primer to create a key, and then prime with diluted wallpaper paste.

A: Gardz has 2 purposes. First, use it before skimming or patching if the sheetrock has torn parper, leaving a fuzzy surface. It will harden the fuzz and make the skim coat go on better.
1- rake out the cracks 2- seal the cracks with zinsser Gardz ( this'll help the filler bond to the porous surface ) 3- push your filler in the cracks and smooth out ( once the primer is dried ) 4- sand till smooth ( may need a second fill ) 5- seal the repair with zinsser Gardz ( this'll ensure your paint don't fail ) ...
It's recommended to wait at least 24 hours before adding a coat of paint over your primer. Painting over it soon could cause your paint to adhere to the wall improperly, flaking and peeling.
Dry Time– In most cases B-I-N® will dry to the touch in 20 minutes and can be recoated in 45 minutes. The dry primer film develops full adhesion after it cures in 1 to 3 days. Lower temperatures, higher humidity and the addition of tint will prolong dry and cure time.
