A latch bolt is the part of a door that keeps the door from coming open. In order to be a latch bolt, the item needs to slide into place. This separates the latch bolt from chain locks or hooks, where the fastening mechanism is simply placed in a holder.
The difference between a mortice deadlock and sash lock is that a mortice sashlock has a latch and bolt to open and close the lock. Where-as a mortice deadlock does not have a latch to open the lock.
3 Lever Locks
The three-lever sash lock is designed for internal doors in domestic properties. These locks are best suited for doors needing to be locked for privacy purposes, but where high security is not required - it has fewer levers and therefore key duplication is much easier.
The 3 Lever Sashbolt Mortice Door Lock is a classically designed, low cost sashlock, which offers additional security for internal doors and outside applications such as sheds. The sashbolt is to be operated by a handle. Available in 64mm (2 ½") and 76mm (3") and in both brass effect and satin finishes.
A lockset may be fitted with a keyable lock on inside, on outside, or not at all, the latter being known as a non-keyed lockset. If the lockset has a single keyed side, it is called a keyed, single-cylinder lockset, if both, a keyed, double-cylinder lockset.
