However, just like our exterior doors, you can expect our manufactured homes' windows to be one of the following sizes: 30” by 60” 36” by 60” 36” by 54” About 80% of windows that we put in homes are one of those three sizes!
Widths can be 2 feet, 3 feet, 4 feet, 5 feet, 6 feet, and 8 feet. Standard heights can range from 2 feet tall to 8 feet tall, with additional heights of 18, 52, 54, and 62 inches. Rough openings are in whole numbers, while 1/2 inch is taken from each rough opening size to get the actual window size.
Measure at the bottom of the opening and keep your tape measure straight. Read the tape measure to get the size of the opening. Take another measurement of the top of the window to make sure it matches. This is your standard window size for your mobile home.
Double Hung Windows
A double-hung window is similar to a single hung window, however, both the lower sash as well as the upper sash can move up and down and usually tilt out for easy cleaning and maintenance.
A major difference between mobile home replacement windows and normal home replacement windows is that they typically come in standard sizes. Ideally, one would want to remove the window and actually measure the opening to find the right size.
Measure from the high point of the sill of your window (the surface closest to the inside of the window) to the top of the window opening. Make three measurements: one at the left side, one at the center and one at the right side of the window. Use the smallest of these three height measurements to order the window.
Replacing mobile home windows isn't difficult if you don't have to retrofit a different sized window. Unfortunately, because mobile home windows have a “non-standard” size. If you are a seasoned DIYer with moderate construction knowledge and experience replacing a window of the same size should be no problem.
Standard bathroom window size
Two standard window sizes are most common for bathrooms: Standard sliding window size: Width – From 36 to 84 inches (0.9 – 2.1 m) Height – From 24 to 60 inches (61 cm – 1.5 m)
The most common widths for picture windows are 2 ft, 3 ft, 4 ft, 6 ft, and 8 ft. Standard picture window heights can range from 1 ft to as tall as 8ft.
When recording measurements, follow the format “width by length.” For example, a window that is 63 inches wide and 27 inches long is recorded as “63 x 27.” A window that is 37 inches wide and 55 inches long is recorded as “37 x 55.” Measure windows width from left edge to the right edge.
Still, replacement windows in a mobile home is entirely different from installations in conventional homes. In some ways, it's a lot easier. Mobile home windows usually come in standard sizes and styles, instead of a wide variety of unwieldy custom models.
If you have a double door entryway, the standard size will be 72” x 80”, or double the width of a single front door with the same height. Be sure to measure the thickness of your existing door. Most exterior doors will be 1-3/4 inch thick.

Mobile homes typically have four basic types of windows: jalousie windows, horizontal sliders, vertical sliders, and awning windows.
Mobile homes often come with very generic and basic windows and doors, not to mention their frames. Luckily, it's pretty easy to add new windows or doors to a mobile home as the wall materials are much easier to cut and manipulate. This opens up a lot of doors (excuse the pun) for you design wise.
A double-hung window, also commonly referred to as a double-sash window, is a type of window that has two operable sashes that slide up and down. There are two main operable parts of a double-hung window — the top sash and the bottom sash. They are both able to open to provide ventilation.
Just remember that vinyl or aluminum window measurements include the entire unit -- glass, frame and sash -- while wood window sizes go by the measure of the glass. You'll have more visible glass in a three-foot wood window than a three-foot vinyl window, but you'll also have a larger window unit in wood.
The most common window size or average bedroom window size is 24×36.
Recommended rough opening is between 3/4" (19mm) - 1" (25mm) larger than the window width and height.
Using the damp washcloth, clean the dirt from all window sills and other nooks and crannies, rinsing the cloth often to avoid spreading the dirt. Once that is done, close the windows and clean the insides using traditional Windex, the squeegee, and the paper towels when necessary.
If you have indoor single-pane storm windows, turn the tabs that hold them in place. If they are too tight, use pliers or a screwdriver. Be careful not to let the window fall out. Use a small flat screwdriver to gently lift out one edge and then gently remove the storm window.
