“Thinner,” high-pressure waterjet streams from a good jetting nozzle will have the most “cutting” power if the psi is adequate. Experience has shown that a 3,500 to 4,000 psi jetter with 6 or more gpm and the right nozzle or tool will cut out root masses, chop up hard grease, and carve out hard settled dirt.
What is hydrojetting, and why is it necessary? This sewer cleaning process uses highly pressurized water. The 2000 to 4000 PSI pressure breaks up and rids sewer drainage pipes of sludge, grease, mineral scale, tree roots, and other debris.
These machines offer higher flow rates, suitable for larger pipes. A residential gas pressure washer with 2.5 to 2.9 GPM and close to 3,000 PSI can effectively clean drains up to 4 inches in diameter. For commercial-grade cleaning, look for units delivering around 3.5 GPM and rated at least 3,000 PSI.
“Thinner” high-pressure waterjet streams from a good jetting nozzle will have the most 'cutting' power if the PSI is adequate; experience has shown that a 3500-4000psi jetter with 6 or more GPM and the right Warthog nozzle/tool WILL cut out root masses, chop up hard grease, and carve out hard settled dirt.
The three most commonly requested pressure and flow combinations at Kerrick are: Property Maintenance: 3000 psi at 21 l/min. Surface Preparation / Graffiti Removal /Construction Site Clean Up:4000 psi at 15 l/min. Vehicles & Boat Wash Down: 1740 psi at 11 l/min on cars and boats to 3000 psi at 15 or 20 l/min on trucks.
If the gauge reads 40 PSI when the hose is filled with water, we know that the elevation is 92.4 feet. We simply take 40 PSI x 2.31 which equals 92.4. This is not distance, but feet of head.
Don't operate an air induction nozzle below 2 bar (30 psi), even if it's rated lower in the manufacturer's nozzle table. Most AI nozzles perform best at >4 bar (60 psi). Pressure can be used on-the-fly to make minor changes to flow rate while spraying.
Experience has shown that a 3,500 to 4,000 psi jetter with 6 or more gpm and the right nozzle or tool will cut out root masses, chop up hard grease, and carve out hard settled dirt. We've shipped dozens of jetters that do 9 gpm/4,000 psi for cutting out this kind of crud from 3- to 8-inch drains and sewers.
Hydro jetting is a powerful way to remove tree roots from your sewer pipes. This method uses strong water jets to cut through and remove roots, along with any grease and debris clogging your pipes. It's a clean and non-invasive approach—meaning it won't mess up your yard because there's no digging involved.
Process. There are six main process characteristics of water jet cutting: Uses a high-velocity stream of ultra high-pressure water 30,000–90,000 psi (210–620 MPa) which is produced by a high-pressure pump with possible abrasive particles suspended in the stream.
Jetter machines are specialized pressure washers with flow that starts at 3 gallons per minute (GPM). Not all pressure washers have 3 GPM flow or more, so be sure to check the flow rate on your pressure washer to make sure it will work as a jetter cleaner.
Hydro jetting costs $475 on average but range from $350 to $600. A plumber can give you a quote and get rid of your sewer clog. Having to keep your plumber on speed dial is no fun for any homeowner. If chronic sewer clogs are giving you issues, it might be time to call in the big guns.
High Pressure Flexible Lance
✓ Mainly used in hydro jetting applications of pressure up to 1400 bar.
Light-duty tasks: Cleaning cars, patio furniture, bicycles, and small decks usually requires a pressure washer with a PSI of 1000 to 2000. Medium-duty tasks: For washing fences, sidewalks, and driveways, a pressure washer with a PSI of 1000 to 3000 can provide the necessary power without causing damage.
Given the amount of force used, hydro jetting can damage frail, aging pipes. Older sewer pipes that are more susceptible to cracks and breaks shouldn't be treated using hydro jetting. In scenarios when pipe age is a concern, traditional cleaning methods should be utilized instead.
How Long Does Hydro Jetting Take? The average time to perform hydro jetting is about 60 minutes. If you have a lot of cleaning, you can expect about 90 minutes.
Hydro jetting a sewer line involves using highly pressurized water to break apart and cut the tree roots so they can then be flushed out of the pipes. Many hydro jets have around 4,000 per square inch (psi). Hydro jets are recommended for severe sewer line tree root blockage.
Try Copper Sulfate
Copper Sulfate is also effective in killing roots in your sewer line pipes. You can get it at your local hardware store. Just pour about half a cup down the toilet and flush as many times as needed to wash it off.
For standard water jetting, pressures can rise to 4,000 pounds per square inch (psi) or 275 bar, with no limit on flow rate. However, to remove very tough material from drains and sewers – for example concrete – water pressures of up to and over 12,000 psi (827 bar) can be used.
Hydro jetting uses a specialized hose and nozzle to shoot water through your pipes at a force of around 1500 psi on average (although that number can rise to 5000 psi), which is one reason you need a skilled plumber to do the job.
Hydroblasting activities make up 2 categories:
High-Pressure hydroblasting, which ranges from 690 bar (10000 psi) to 1700 bar (25000 psi) Ultra High-Pressure hydro blasting that ranges from 1700bar (25000 psi) and above.
When spraying clear coat I like to up the pressure 2-3 psi for a little more atomization and better flow out,HVLP spray gun Air Pressure Setting for Base Coat Clear Coat (High Volume Low Pressure) When spraying base coat clear coat systems, you want to spray at 26-29 PSI.
Air pressure affects results
15 to 20 psi:Airbrushing, touch-up, shading, sunbursting, and thin finish materials. 20 to 25 psi:Soft, velvet-like coverage, with lacquers in particular. 35 to 45 psi:Average spraying range for sealing and topcoating. 50 psi: waterbase lacquers may need this much pressure.
The maximum inlet pressure marked on most HVLP spray guns is in reference to the pressure at the cap, i.e.: maximum 50 PSI equals 10 PSI @ the cap. Spraying at a higher pressure will not harm the gun. Just put your gun out of the 10 PSI @ the cap range.
