White tip – Have a 40-degree angle and are designed for softer surfaces and materials. These are great for all types of siding material, including vinyl and wood. Best for inexperienced homeowners trying to power wash their house.
It's very important that you use the right nozzle when cleaning house siding or you can quickly damage it. The yellow 15-degree nozzle is the best choice for siding and similar surfaces. When cleaning siding, you need to start at the top and work your way down.
Reach for the 1500 PSI Pressure Washer and use the 40-degree nozzle to clean painted soft-wood surfaces, aluminum siding, and windows. Brick, stone, and vinyl can handle the higher pressure of the 1600 PSI model. For stucco, stick to the gentler cleaning power of the WORX Hydroshot described below.
Turbo Nozzle
The rotating nozzle gives you the extreme pressure of a 0° nozzle with the wide coverage of a 25° nozzle. If you choose to use a rotating nozzle, be extra careful what surface you use it on. The pressure of a 0° spray can damage wood, siding, and some metals.
When it comes to the flat fan sprayer nozzles used on sprayer booms, the color indicates the flow capacity of the nozzle. This is often referred to as “nozzle size” and is generally expressed in gallons per minute (GPM). All flat fan nozzles that are the same color will produce the same GPM at the same pressure.
Vinyl siding can withstand a powerful gas pressure washer (2,500-3,000 psi). Aluminum, stucco or soft-grain wood homes will do better with a less powerful washer (about 1,200-1,500 psi). Determine whether you will rent or buy your machine.
A rotary turbo nozzle automatically spins a zero-degree spray tip in a 4-8 inch circle at 3000 rotations per minute. The spinning water jet hits the surface area from multiple angles, quickly breaking down caked-on dirt and grime. As a result, rotary nozzles can cut cleaning time in half.
Your rotary turbo nozzle is the best thing you can use to strip off old paint, graffiti, and other debris from pavement and concrete. So if you're looking to clean up that stone walkway or driveway, then rotary pressure should be your go-to.
Spray Your Siding Clean
Be careful not to spray directly at eaves, vents or light fixtures. High water pressure can knock out loose windowpanes or break them. Also, keep the angle of the wand pointing down so you don't spray up under the laps of horizontal siding.
The power of pressure washing can result in holes in your siding, breaking off vinyl panels, and more. When you're using a pressure washer, you're likely shooting water up toward the top of your house.
1000-2000 PSI
This pressure range is good for cleaning decks and siding and for light-duty auto cleaning.
Each nozzle you add to the wand changes the width of the spray—in a wider or narrower “V”—depending on what degree angle the nozzle is designed to provide. For example, selecting a nozzle with a narrow spray (a low-degree nozzle) will give you more pressure—PSI—in your spray, but over a smaller area.
So here are a few of the basic differences. Your typical pressure washer is between 2.5 and 4 gpm. Jetters start at the 4 gpm mark and go up from there, 8 to 9 gpm for portable models and up to 18 to 25 gpm for trailer mounted equipment.
The Turbo Jet is an amazing, all-new spray nozzle attachment that turns your ordinary water hose into a high-pressure power washer. Bulky pressure washers are expensive, heavy and use gas or electricity. The Turbo Jet's clever design uses a controlled flow to build a powerful jet stream right from your garden hose.
Red nozzles are 0-degree nozzles. These are powerful, direct nozzles that provide a focused stream of high-pressure water. This is used on heavy, ground-in stains and dirt, and should be used sparingly.
Once you know the GPM and PSI of your pump, you can select the correct nozzle orifice size. The orifice size of the nozzle determines the operating pressure of your machine. As a rule of thumb, the smaller the orifice, the greater the restriction of water flowing through the machine.
A turbo nozzle temporarily replaces the fan nozzle on your water blaster to increase cleaning pressure by about 60%. For example, it would increase this Washmate-10's pressure from 2,200 psi to around 3520 psi.
Most homes should be power washed a minimum of once a year. Power Washing your siding will actually extend the life of it so it won't need repairs and you won't need to replace it as often. It also makes your home look as good as new when it's tidy and clean on the exterior.
Medium Duty 2000-2800 PSI
This classification ranges from as low as 2,000 PSI to as high as 2,800 PSI. You can use a medium-duty pressure washer for almost any surface. They're great for cleaning concrete, brick, and wood.
Use some elbow grease…or a power washer
Be careful not to point the nozzle too close your aluminum gutters, as the high pressure can cause them to dent. Instead, use the power washer while standing on the ground, aiming at the gutters. This method can save you a lot of time and effort.

If the nozzle is more than ± 5% of the listed flow rate, it should be changed. Typically worn nozzles will over-apply and blocked or pressure-affected nozzles will under-apply. If you have more than 30,000 acres through your spray tips, don't waste time calibrating them, they are worn out and should be replaced.
