tube of Hunter high-grade SAE 10 non-detergent oil is specifically designed to maintain the unique oil bath lubrication system of the Hunter Original® ceiling fans for a lifetime of quiet operation.
Oiling a fan should only be done with 10, 15, or 20 weight non-detergent motor oil. Don't use a 3 in 1 oil, WD-40, or any lubricant containing detergent as it will gum the bearings. Best place to go is your local auto parts store. For fans with oil holes, fill the reservoir via the oil hole. 1-2 ounces should do it.
Try Hunter oil for fans. This is a specific fan oil that will work well for most models. Don't use WD-40.
Add SAE 10 non-detergent ceiling fan oil to the Hunter Original. You can obtain ceiling fan oil at home-improvement stores and fan and lighting stores. Locate the oil-fill hole at the top of the motor. Place the tip of the oil tube in the hole, and let gravity draw the oil into the fan for about one minute.
To oil a ceiling fan without taking it down, first, ensure the fan is turned off and the blades are still. Use a ladder to reach the motor housing, and locate the oil hole (if your fan has one). Add a few drops of oil into the hole using a small oil applicator or spray, wiping away any excess to keep the fan clean.
THIS 3-IN-ONE oil is a 20 wt. (SAE 20..) oil designed for bearing lubrication on electric motors. It is a nice, almost clear, easily handled oil with a spout that will conveniently reach almost any oil port on small electric motors.

3-IN-ONE ® Motor Oil
3-IN-ONE Motor Oil is a SAE 20 special blend of high-grade oils engineered for 1/4 HP motors or larger. This long-lasting formula is great as an electric motor oil and lubricant, and can also be used to maintain sewing machines fans, drills, lawn tools, and more.
Is it OK to put oil on an electric fan? Yes, you can oil an electric fan with machine or motor oil but don't use cooking oil because it can become thick or seize up, damaging the fan. Before oiling your fan, turn it off and remove any dust and debris. Wipe away any excess lubricant after oiling.
With WD-40 Multi Use Product, lubricating your ceiling fan becomes easier. The all-purpose liquid allows you to clean your fan and ensure its smooth functioning within a few minutes. A couple of WD-40 sprays would make your ceiling fan sparkling clean and reduce friction within its body.
Aerovent's experience has shown that grease is the best type of lubricant for fan applications. For ball and spherical roller bearings a NLGI Grade 2 or 3 grease is recommended. Special high temperature greases are recommended if the bearing temperature exceeds 160°F. Avoid mixing greases with different bases.
Valvoline Daily Protection Non-Detergent Oil is specially designed for equipment specifying a non-detergent formulation including both high and low pressure hydraulic systems.
Loose parts are among the most common causes of noise in ceiling fans. Over time, vibrations from the fan's operation can cause screws, bolts, and other fasteners to loosen. These loose components can lead to a variety of noise issues, ranging from subtle rattling to more pronounced clanking sounds.
If any part of your Hunter Ceiling fan motor fails during your lifetime due to a defect in mate- rial or workmanship we will provide a replacement part free of charge.
Squeaky fans are the worst! They're so loud and annoying. Well, WD-40 has got you covered. Clean out the fan, spray on some WD-40, and wait for it to dry.
Rubbing noises
If the rubbing noise is resulting from blade holders touching the motor housing, the fan is most likely installed incorrectly. Please consult your owner's manual to make certain the blade holders are installed properly.
Liquid Bearings is simply the superior lubricant, because it never gums up or becomes sticky, it will penetrate through old sticky oil deposits and free them, and the application almost never has to be repeated! It just never goes away or gets “old”.
Use a high-quality oil designed for high-speed motor shafts and bearings. Do not use oil containing a detergent, such as automotive motor oil. Detergent is bad for the bearings of fan motors.
we suggest using AEON PD oil and grease lubricants for Sutorbilt, Duroflow, Cycloblower, Triflow, Heliflow, and Drum positive displacement blowers and vacuum pumps. Aeon PD Synthetic Blower Oil provides superior performance in a variety of applications and is specifically designed for PD Blowers and vacuum pumps.
SAE 30 oil is a single-grade oil, which means that it has only one viscosity specification, as opposed to multigrade oils. It is only rated for hot viscosity, whereas the others have dual viscosity specifications, for low and high temperatures.
Use 3-IN-ONE® Multi-Purpose Oil on nuts and bolts, hand and power tools, bearings, locks, fans, firearms, bicycles, rollers, wheels, drill bits, saw blades, ladders, seals, bearings, shafts, trailer hitches, skateboards—anything you want to move smoothly and quietly!
Using 5W-30 instead can reduce fuel economy and impede flow throughout the engine. While using it temporarily in a pinch likely won't cause your engine lasting harm, remember that the engineers who built your engine did so with a specific viscosity oil in mind, meaning it's best to stick with it.
