Everyone's familiar with basin pillar taps, even if you might not have known what they were called. With basin pillar taps, you have two taps - one for hot water and one for cold - and they are more common in traditional-style bathrooms or in bathrooms in older houses.
So what are the types of taps? There are 3 main taps you should be familiar with and they are: Taper, Plug, and Bottoming tap. The taper tap can be identified by the visible and pronounced tapering of the cutting edges. This provides a very gradual and less aggressive cutting action.
A faucet aerator (or tap aerator) is often found at the tip of modern indoor water faucets. Aerators can simply be screwed onto the faucet head, creating a non-splashing stream and often delivering a mixture of water and air.
Parts of a sink faucet include a water spout, controls, gaskets, flanges, aerators, washers and an assortment of screws, depending on the kitchen or bathroom sink faucet you have in your home.
A tap flange is a plastic disc with a hole in the centre. This hole is designed to fit snugly around the shower tap or mixing valve that you will be installing it around. Around this hole is an inset section, allowing it to adapt to taps and mixing valves that were not set out to the proper depth.
Taper Taps are the most common types of taps and are typically what you'll have in a Tap and Die Set.

Filling a bathtub requires a fast and generous stream of water, otherwise, you would have to wait an hour for your warm bath to fill up. In addition, basin taps don't require the same fast and generous flow of water as your bath tap, otherwise, water would splatter everywhere every time you washed your hands.
Taper chamfers, also known as starter taps, have a longer chamfer and require a less aggressive cutting action. They have 7 to 10 chamfer threads. Plug chamfers are the most commonly used chamfer and are designed for efficiently threading through and blind holes.
Single lever mixer tap
Popular for both kitchens and bathrooms. Stylish and simple, the single-lever mixer tap controls the temperature and the water flow when you move the lever from left to right and vice versa. They are simple to use and practical, which is why they are the most common type of tap at home.

The water pipe is connected to the bottom. Water is then held in a chamber until required. When you want water all you need to do is turn the handle anticlockwise which unscrews an internal valve and starts the flow of the water.
A spigot is a faucet, a device to turn water on and off. If you leave a spigot open, the water will keep flowing. In the U.S., most of us call an indoor valve (in the kitchen or bathroom) a faucet, and the outdoor one a spigot.
Difference Between Tap And Bibcock
Tap means the root, but bibcock is like a leaf of the tap. Tap can stand alone, but the bibcock is always wall-mounted. The tap comes with a slide function most of the time, and the bibcock comes with a thread or washer function.
Outside taps, or sometimes referred to as garden taps allow you to pour clean, cold water from outside your home.
