Sleek Modern Pulls. Slim and sleek pulls are still the most popular cabinet hardware style. Modern bar pulls, whether tubular or square are top sellers, and for good reason. They look great on most cabinets, come in many finishes, and are a flexible design choice.
For standard size cabinetry (dimensions of 12″ – 36″) the most common pull sizes are 3”, 4”, 96mm, and 128mm center to center (from one screw hole to another).
There is no right or wrong size to choose, but we do recommend choosing pulls that have at least a 3-3/4" center to center (the distance between the screw holes). This size looks pleasing on most cabinets, while still being large enough to grip comfortably. 5" - 6.5" pulls are also an excellent choice.
Standard base and wall cabinets are usually between 12 and 36 inches. If this is the case, it's typical to use 3- or 4-inch pull handles. If your cabinets are larger than standard, you'll need larger pulls. Look for ones that run between 6 and 12 inches.
Cabinet pulls give a sleek visually appealing look to cabinet doors and drawers. What usually looks best is a pull length that is about 1/3 the height of the cabinet door and 1/3 the width of the cabinet drawer. Your eyes follow the length of the pull up the height of the door or across the width of the drawer.
Ball bearing drawer slides are the most common type of drawer slides. They are made with steel ball bearings that roll in a thin track. This allows the drawer to move in and out smoothly with less friction. This type of drawer slide is easy to install, but requires precision when building the drawer box.
Standard Drawer Slide Sizes for Kitchen Cabinets
Side and bottom mount drawer slides are almost always 22″ and have a 1/2″ side clearance. Have a face frame cabinet? You'll need rear mount brackets too. Undermount drawer slides are 21″ and have a custom drawer width.
For extra-long drawers (over 2 feet) that will have heavy contents, it can be both visually pleasing and practical to have two knobs or pulls. If you do, the common rule of thumb for placement is to divide the drawer into thirds, and install the hardware in the left and right thirds.
Here are the basics: Most hardware is made from inexpensive zinc or more expensive copper and brass. Often these base metals have a finish, or plating of a different color adhered to them. Stainless steel and bronze can be plated over these metals, but they can also be solid.
Don't underestimate the power of black hardware. "Black and white is a classic and timeless combination, so black hardware in a white kitchen will never go out of style," says Laura Roberts of Laura Roberts Interiors.

Drawer slides typically range in length from 10 inches to 28 inches with specialty lengths available for custom drawers and unique applications. If the slide is too short the drawer will not pull out far enough and if the slide is too long the drawer will not fit in the cabinet.
A drawer slide is a mechanism that allows for telescopic motion in one axis and are commonly found in a wide range of household and industrial applications. The technology used is really only split into two types, the others refer to the installation location on the drawer. Roller slides and Ball-bearing slides.
Typically, side-mount ball-bearing slides should be the same length as the drawer box. For undermount slides, be sure to check the spec sheet—drawer boxes for these slides must be built to specific depths (front to back) in order to work properly.
Our years of experience and thorough product testing have found that the ideal position is between a third and two-thirds distance from the base of the drawer, just below the centre line.
Overall, to cut a long story short, contemporary and modern cabinets work in harmony with simple knobs and pulls. You can also mix and match them to create a complementary look, like the transition kitchen. Traditional-style spaces demand much more intricate hardware, making pulls the more common selection.
Pulls are slender pieces of cabinet hardware that allow for better handling. These features are more prominent than knobs, and thus, they're more expensive despite being made in various sizes. Pull handles benefit drawers and larger cabinets best since these spaces can get heavy with pots, pans, and weighty dishes.
A smaller sized knob or pull is appropriate for a smaller door or drawer. A good rule of thumb for traditional or transitional style pulls is that they should be about one-third of the length of the cabinet drawer. Drawers larger than eighteen inches wide may require more than one pull or knob.
