Knob Locks
Knob locks are the most common type of door lock available and the chief security method for most doors. The lock cylinder is located in the knob itself instead of the door. Thus, knob locks should not be used on external doors, as they can be easily broken into with basic tools like a hammer or wrench.
A deadbolt lock is the most common option for home security, consisting of a thick metal bolt that protrudes through a strike plate and into the door frame to prevent the door from being opened. Simply enter the correct key into the keyhole and turn the key to open or close the deadbolt.
A cylinder lock is a device that can be opened with one or more keys. Cylinder locks are employed on doors, sheds, garages, and even padlocks. Cylinder locks require a second key (or turning mechanism) for locking and unlocking, in addition to the cylinder needing to be locked or unlocked.
The standard Kwikset deadbolt is the most common lock in America.
A normal door lock is likely to be a mortice lock – either a deadlock, sashlock, euro sash case or euro deadcase style. These offer high security for external doors and also act as a visible deterrent because burglars know they're difficult to overcome.
Single cylinder
This is the most common type of deadbolt used. Single cylinder deadbolts have an exterior keyhole that throws or retracts the deadbolt using a key on the outside. On the inside, you can lock and unlock the deadbolt with the thumbturn.
Measure from the outside edge of the door (including furniture) to the centre of your door. This is dimension A and is called the External Size to Centre. Next, measure from the inside edge of your door (including furniture) to the centre of your door to find dimension B, the Internal Size to Centre.
Schlage and Kwikset are two of the most popular lock manufacturers on the market. Both brands make excellent locks that homeowners can easily install, but Schlage locks tend to offer higher security and reliability and are trusted by big businesses.
In the U.S., there is no single comprehensive law against dual-cylinder deadbolts. Individual cities and states have local property and fire codes that may prohibit the use of dual-cylinder deadbolts. The code may prohibit the use of dual-cylinder deadbolts in some buildings and allow them in others.
Deadbolt door locks are the most secure type of key lock and are commonly used on exterior house doors. Single and double cylinder locks are classified by strength from Grade 1 to Grade 3. Grade 1 is the highest and provides the best security.
Abloy Protec2 PL 330 Padlock
It is one of the only locks in the world that has never been picked. It has a hardened boron alloy steel shackle to provide resistance to bolt cutters (but is not bolt cutter proof). The padlock body is brass and the shackle and body are chrome plated, so it is very rust-resistant.
Types of Cylinders – Key in Knob/Lever Cylinder
It may be a bit longer or shorter, and the end may look slightly different depending on the brand of lock. The depth of the cylinder is determined by the depth of the lever, and the end is determined by how the cylinder engages the locking mechanism of the lever.
The cylindrical lock is the most common of all door locks in use today. They are used to secure office doors, storerooms, and exterior doors. It is named for the locking cylinder located in the knob or lever. Some cylindrical locks require a key to lock and unlock them.
Because Schlage locks are made of stronger materials, are superior in their mechanism, and provide far greater security than Kwikset locks, it should be mentioned that they are more expensive compared to Kwikset. For example, let's look at the retail price for a deadbolt from both Kwikset and Schlage.
Since Schlage locks are made of stronger materials, and provide far greater security than Kwikset locks, they also come with a higher price tag.
Finally, Yale locks are also high-quality but are less common in the United States. Many people prefer them over Schlage or Kwikset because they have a long track record of providing quality security at low prices. However, some critics complain that they lack diversity in their lock designs.
Since the pins are hidden inside the lock, it's fairly difficult for most people to move the plug without the correct key. But, with a lot of practice, it is possible to solve the puzzle by other means. In the next section, we'll see how a locksmith goes about picking this sort of lock.
In order to change your lock, you can replace your entire lock, or you can replace just the cylinder. Again, you can take just the cylinder to a locksmith to be rekeyed, also.
The ignition lock cylinder is supposed to last for as long as the car does, but usually this does not happen. When the ignition assembly is installed, the lock cylinder will have a bit of lubrication in it that makes turning it with a key much easier.
Basic Cylinder Locks
Deadbolts use a solid piece of metal to secure the door, while standard cylinder locks use a spring to help make it easier to lock the door. Unfortunately, the spring does not provide much security and it can easily be forced. Deadbolts, however, are still vulnerable to lock picking.

1) EVVA MCS
Each key has a complex rounded shape, this coupled with the magnetic element makes it an extremely hard lock to pick. The only way to gain access to the door would be for the key to be cloned, and in that case, a master locksmith would need to get their hands on the original key.
