Traces of adhesive can be removed using acetone. Apply the acetone directly to the traces of adhesive using a soft cloth and rub lightly. The traces will easily come off your wood flooring. And don't worry: acetone evaporates quickly, so there's no risk of staining your floor.
Pour a 1/4 cup of paint thinner or turpentine directly onto the adhesive and leave it for 10 minutes. Some adhesives will respond to these cheap solvents.
Eucalyptus oil, lemon oil, or petroleum jelly are all particularly good at removing glue from wood. Simply soak a paper towel and press it onto the glue before leaving it for five minutes. You should then be able to peel the glue off. Loctite glue remover will also reliably remove glue from wood.

If gentler methods don't work, try more powerful chemical solvents, such as lighter fluid, paint thinner, acetone, or rubbing alcohol. Some of these solvents can affect wood finishes and paint, so test first and apply with caution. Rub the solvent in gently for a few minutes, then wash thoroughly with a damp cloth.
Try some denatured alcohol or acetone on a rough cloth and simply rub the adhesive until it peels away.
Goof-Off comes in a metal container and has a stronger smell. It cuts through most every kind of goo and paint for fast easy removal. However, it can damage certain types of plastics. Goo-Gone is a bit more gentle and is my preferred choice for anything plastic.
Rubbing alcohol is great for breaking down glue without damaging the vinyl: Dampen a cloth with rubbing alcohol. Rub the glue residue gently with the cloth.
The warm soapy water method
Using warm soapy water is a gentle and effective method to remove sticky residue from wood surfaces. Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water to create a solution. Dampen a soft cloth with the mixture and gently rub the sticky area, applying light pressure.
Acetone Cleaning Solvent could be used. Apply to a small area, wait for five minutes then attempt to scrape the glue off. Remember that when using solvents it is advisable to wear chemical gloves, respirator and eye protection, as well as ventilating the room as much as possible.
Bostik's Ultimate Adhesive Remover is a readily biodegradable, low odor, water rinseable solution. Use Ultimate to remove wet and cured urethane adhesive from the surface of pre-finished (non-wax) wood flooring.
Dissolve the glue.
Soak a cotton bud or rag in a solvent such as acetone nail polish remover or vinegar diluted in water. Note that acetone is only suitable for unfinished, untreated wood, while vinegar is a softer alternative, less likely to cause damage.
Apply Heat: Use a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive, making lifting and removing the planks easier. Scrape Carefully: Scrape the glued planks using the floor scraper or putty knife. Apply steady pressure to detach them from the subfloor.
Goo Gone is a fairly average citrus-based cleaner, where as Goof Off is based on acetone. It'll melt many paint and plastics on contact.
