Think of it as a very small screw that turns the lock. When you insert a small enough flathead screwdriver into this groove it will open your locked door. You will have to use your sense of feel to connect and turn it, but it is easily done.
The hole in the center is to unlock the door from that side if it were to be inadvertently locked from the other side. Door knobs come with a special thin screwdriver like key that goes in that hole.
Most interior doors are prepped with a single boor hole. The Bore hole is the large diameter hole where the door knob is mounted. The standard sized bore hole is 2 1/8" in diameter.
These pinholes allow water to drain from the lock and helps prevent the internal components from rusting. Additionally, draining the water from locks in freezing cold environments helps stop water building up and freezing the inside.
Emergency Key
These keys are often made of metal and are narrow and solid in order to fit into the small hole of the door handle or knob. To use an emergency key, you insert the slotted end into the center of the lever or knob, then turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to lock/unlock the door.
A gravitational keyhole is a tiny region of space where a planet's gravity would alter the orbit of a passing asteroid such that the asteroid would collide with that planet on a given future orbital pass.
Typically, deadbolts need a bore hole 1 1/2 or 2 1/8 inches in diameter. Levers and handlesets usually need a hole 2 1/8 inches in diameter. If you're shopping for replacement hardware, check the required backset. This is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole.
Squirt wood glue into the hole, and then insert toothpicks or matches until the hole is filled. Tap them lightly with a hammer to push them into the hole as deep as possible. Let the glue dry and break off the protruding ends of the toothpicks or matches. Now you can screw the screw into the repaired drill hole.
A skeleton key has the warded section of the key removed so that it opens all the doors of a system. Some applications, such as a building with multiple entrance doors, have numerous locks that are keyed alike; one key will open every door.
Bore hole. A bore hole is drilled into a door to accommodate a lockset.
When your college roommate places a sock on the doorknob, it's a nonverbal warning that you should avoid entering because they are in the middle of having sex and don't want to be interrupted.
The main purpose is drainage. Without the small hole, moisture would build up inside of the padlock's body, which can lead to problems like rust and corrosion. There are many different types of padlocks, but they often feature a small hole on the bottom to allow moisture to drain out of the body.
If the holes are small, you can use wood filler to fill them. Apply the wood filler with a putty knife and let it dry completely. Sand the area with fine-grit sandpaper until it is smooth and even. If the holes are larger or the door is made of a material other than wood, you may need to use a patching compound.
Fill dents and tiny holes with lightweight spackle using your finger or a putty knife. Make sure the spackle completely fills the dent or hole and is level with the rest of the wall. Allow the spackle to dry for 15 to 30 minutes or the time recommended by the manufacturer.
Once we've drilled the borehole it's cased, sealed and lined. We fit a well screen and just above a submersible pump. The pump lifts the water up through the rising main then along the discharge pipe to the pressure tank. The well water is stored in the pressure tank, where it goes on to supply your home.
On the inside of that hole is a groove that will fit a small flat head screwdriver. Think of it as a very small screw that turns the lock. When you insert a small enough flathead screwdriver into this groove it will open your locked door.
A peep hole, also known as a door viewer, is a good way to see who is on the other side of your front door before you open it.
Dummy door knobs are one-sided “fake knobs.” They're usually installed on the surface of a door or behind it. Some come in pairs so you can use them on double doors. These types of door knobs don't have any working parts. They're good for a shallow closet or small pantry and the interior of French doors.
The Keyhole is a food label that identifies healthier food products within a product group. Choosing foods with the Keyhole symbol makes it easier and less time consuming to find healthier products in grocery stores.
Black holes are perhaps one of the most fascinating predictions of Einstein's theory. These objects are completely gravitationally collapsed objects with such immense gravitational fields that not even light can escape their interior.
