Chain: Also called the toilet lift chain, this is the length of metal links that connects the toilet lever to the flapper. Float: This buoyant device, sometimes part of the flush valve, regulates the amount of water in the tank.
It may be covered with lime scale, a mineral deposit from hard water. As it builds up, some of the lime scale flakes off and floats on top of the water as little bits and flakes of white stuff. Every time you flush the toilet, some of it will be deposited into your toilet bowl where it will float on the water there.
The toilet float is a device that allows water to fill the tank without overflowing. You may have heard it referred to as the ballcock or float valve. While the design has changed over the years, and a variety of materials have been used in the construction, they all work pretty much the same.

White Particles in Water
Floating white particles are most often small bits of calcium or magnesium carbonate. Groundwater collects high concentrations of these minerals as it flows through the earth and turns into hard water as a result.
If the water is running into the overflow tube, the water level might be too high, or the overflow tube might be too short for the toilet. The water level can be adjusted to resolve this issue, but the entire flush valve assembly must be replaced if the overflow tube is too short.
This small, flexible tube is clipped to the top of the overflow tube in the center of your toilet tank. The refill tube is responsible for sending a small, steady trickle of water into the toilet bowl after the toilet has been flushed and needs to be refilled.
Flush or Trip Lever Arm - This is the metal or plastic extension connected to the flush valve. It is on the inside of the tank and can be up to 6 inches long.
The filler valve (or refill valve) sends water in two directions. Some of the water goes down the refill tube and starts refilling the tank. The rest goes through the bowl refill tube, and down the overflow tube into the bowl. This refills the bowl slowly.
The water level should be set about 1 inch below the top of the overflow pipe. Leaking flappers are the second most common problem on a toilet. When water seems to trickle through a toilet long after it has been flushed, a worn rubber flapper is probably to blame.
Add a bleach solution to the overflow tub – First, mix one-part bleach to 10 parts water. You can also use vinegar if you want to use a less-harsh solution. Remove the lid to the toilet tank, and add the solution to the overflow tube, which is the vertical tube in the middle of the tank.
It is quite common for minerals such as calcium and lime, along with debris particles such as rust to build up in the rim feed and jet holes of the toilet bowl. Over time, these deposits restrict and block water from flowing into the toilet bowl which will cause a weak or incomplete flush.
Check the water level:
This cause by far the most common reason for slow flushing toilets. If the water in the tank is not up to the recommended level, you may have poor flushing power.
The water comes from the cold water supply. So when someone flushes, the pressure-balance valve senses a drop in cold water pressure. To counteract this, the valve restricts the release of hot water, resulting in a pressure drop. This minor inconvenience will continue until the water tank completely refills.
