The acidic nature of vinegar quickly gets to work penetrating and removing grime. It makes cleaning grease off oven surfaces a breeze. To use vinegar for oven cleaning, fill a spray bottle with your favorite brand of white vinegar and spray liberally over the entire surface of the oven.
Simply make a paste with one-half cup of baking soda, mixing it with three tablespoons of water. (Use a cup of baking soda with one-third a cup of water if the oven is really dirty.) With the racks removed, use a paper towel or sponge to remove any loose particles from the bottom, sides, top, and door.
Baking soda neutralizes acids and breaks down the grease, allowing you to wipe it up without a lot of elbow grease. It's also a mild abrasive, so it works well at removing dried, stuck-on foods. You don't have to turn your oven on, and you can use it immediately after cleaning with baking soda.

Dryer Sheet. Soak a burnt pan with soap and water, and add a dryer sheet into the mix. Allow it to sit for an hour. The dryer sheet (you can substitute a tablespoon of fabric softener) will loosen the burnt-on food and leave you with a shiny like-new pan.

The best DIY way to clean the oven

Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka
Vodka is a good substitute. Wet a paper towel or clean cloth with rubbing alcohol, and rub the residue to lift it off. For stubborn stickers, place an alcohol-soaked cloth on the area and let it sit for several minutes to soften the residue. Use the cloth to rub off what's left behind.
Let the oven cool completely. Carefully scrape off as much foil as possible with a razor blade. Ventilate the area well. Put on gloves.

Here is an easy way to make hardened granulated sugar soft again -- Preheat oven to lowest temperature, 150-200 degrees. Remove sugar from the package and put in an ovenproof container that will hold the sugar. Place in the warm oven for approximately 15 minutes. Tap sugar with a spoon.
