The default Mastercode is 0-0-0-0. It is recommended that you change it to a code of your own. 1. Make sure the lock is unlocked and the door is open.
You will hear 3 long beeps after the 5 seconds is completed indicating the lock has been reset. A User Code is used to unlock the door while a Mastercode is a password for making changes to the lock features. Interior of door You will reset your User Code to 1-2-3-4 and Mastercode to 0-0-0-0 when the reset is complete.

If you forgot your user code, there are two options:1. Add new user codes. 2. Reset 264 Deadbolt to factory settings to clear existing user codes and add new ones.

What is the Difference Between a Master Code and a Normal User Code? The difference between a master code and a normal user code is that a master code can change itself and also add, edit, or delete normal user codes.
Make sure the User Code is correct and that the Kwikset button is pushed after entering the User Code. If the door still won't unlock, use a key to unlock the door. Call technical support for further troubleshooting.
Note: The keypad will light up in blue when pressed. This is your default Programming Code (PC). Make sure the door is unlocked and that you are using a fresh set of batteries. Enter the default User Code (1-2-3-4), then press the Kwikset button.

A master key is a key that opens several different locks, related in some way, within a master key system. For example, an elementary school may have a master key which will open all classroom doors. Classroom doors would each also be opened by a key which would only open that one classroom door.
